  • The Mechanical Engineer – Rotating equipment will be the primary contact for the refinery on all rotating equipment SME matters. The intent of this position is to support the Refinery with design solutions, front end loading of projects, supporting major capital projects, supporting or leading investigations and bad actor resolution relating to rotating equipment.
  • The Mechanical Engineer - Rotating equipment will provide input to the Astron Energy's rotating equipment technical specifications and procedures.
  • The Mechanical Engineer - Rotating equipment should maintain a technical level of competency to enable effective coaching and mentoring of technicians and peers.
  • The Mechanical Engineer - Rotating equipment needs to align own work group priorities in line with Refinery Business objectives.

Will be required to participate in cross-functional initiatives, plant support, incident investigations and projects including:

  • Provide inputs into rotating equipment design requirements
  • Review proposed rotating equipment related designs and analyses.
  • Provide technical support for execution and construction
  • Provide shutdown support
  • Provide rotating equipment technical support to operations and maintenance in petrochemical environment both on and off-site
  • Provide engineering support to rotating equipment projects
  • Compiles scope of work, request for quotation etc.
  • Provide quality assurance during projects
  • Participate in rotating equipment failure analysis
  • Lead or participate in investigations
  • Maintain close contact with Business Unit partners on critical performance metrics to ensure sustained improvements
  • Provides support to Maintenance, Technical and Operations personnel through the development or review of rotating equipment repair checklists, preventive or predictive maintenance checklists, and maintenance or operating procedures as necessary
  • Provides work direction and career guidance to Technicians, Analysts, and Engineers through interactions and technical mentoring
  • Training of Rotating Equipment Reliability, Operations and Maintenance personnel on executing high standards for data collection, appropriate level of analysis, Process impacts and troubleshooting
  • QA plan for repairs / repair procedures
  • Determine rotating equipment operating windows
  • Provide inputs to TA scopes
  • Support Rotating equipment related waivers and concessions
  • Provide inputs to failure trees
  • Recommend and apply new technologies and equipment improvements to enhance the Refinery performance in the areas of profitable growth, operational excellence, equipment reliability and safety.
  • Evaluate rotating equipment and system performance
  • Vetting of rotating equipment engineers to ensure they are suitably qualified and experienced for designing and approving rotating equipment for user / plant owner.
  • Promote and maintain the application of ethical and professional practices in the execution of engineering work.
  • Adhere to and promote the Astron corporate safety culture.
