ERI Campus will be a world class education, research and innovation hub (ERI) that fully integrates digital thinking and technology. Reporting directly to the Project Director (or delegate), the core purpose of this role is to manage project related to ERI Campus physical assets (Design to Handover). Coordinating with Consultants, Contractors, Proponent and other stakeholders, to successfully deliver Building Projects. Coordinating, through the Project Director, with the respective Regional Proponent representatives.

The Senior Design Manager will support the Project Director, discharging their fiduciary responsibilities. The assignment will rely on demonstrated experience in building design and project management. The position aspects of the physical asset program will lead on all Design Management and will work adjacent to senior and similar roles within the NEOM organization.

In addition to discipline competency and project/design management experience, the role requires a range of interpersonal skills including, but not limited to, leadership qualities (including change leadership), assertiveness, resilience, ability to influence others and work as a team in order to deliver projects that deliver on the programs Vision and KPIs while maintaining the project schedule, cost requirements, quality standards, and health and safety.

Key Accountabilities & Activities

Coordinates execution of work assignment with respect to design approach, schedules, standards, budgets, and procedures to meet client scope of work requirements.

Provides manpower estimates as required.

Provides technical guidance to project design team in completing the most complex and difficult designs and layouts for complete systems and components of a project.

Assignments typically involve design elements for which there may be no clearly established precedents and require anticipation of problems at the outset in order to provide appropriate solutions.

Ensures compliance with required specifications, tolerances, safety factors, and industry codes, as well as client requirements and company standards.

Performs specialized design computations and analysis within a given discipline.

Performs interdisciplinary reviews and provides coordination of data to ensure a compatible design.

Provides direction to a team of checking personnel ensuring the mathematical accuracy of the drawings produced.

Participate in checking orthographic (2D) and isometric (3D) drawings prepared by others.

Understands and applies commonly used company design standards and methods. Provides input to the establishment or revisions of guidelines and standards.

Collaborates with Engineers and other engineering disciplines to ensure quality of design.

Reviews supplier data and supplier/manufacturer drawings, as required.

May train lower-level Designers/Engineer in various procedures.

Knowledge, Skills And Experience

Minimum of 20 years' relevant design management and technical experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with a strong background in managing the technical design process across multiple work packages.
  • 15+ years of related work experience, including supervisory/managerial experience.
  • Robust personality who is able to manage senior stakeholders (internal and external) as well as leading a number of concurrent deliverables and deadlines.
  • Able to proactively prevent issues as well as being adept in problem solving/providing innovative solutions.
  • Independently taking the lead for all deliverables within their scope of work.
  • Significant managerial experience across a large team of Engineers, Designers, and technical support personnel – both internal and external- directing work involving complex technical situations
  • Experience across multiple disciplines/assets – industrial, infrastructure, buildings, etc.

Skills

  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional Engineer registration. Active membership in a professional engineering society a plus.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills – comfortable presenting technical presentation/solutions to the client.
  • Through knowledge of industry practices and regulations.
  • Must also possess a thorough knowledge of current technology and the capabilities and efficiencies of specific engineering software for use in completing engineering assignments.
  • Requirements include strong PC and CAD skills, as well as knowledge of the capabilities and efficiencies of utilizing specific computer software to complete design assignments.
  • Also requires the ability to perform in a lead capacity on a project.

  • Minimum bachelor's degree in related engineering field.
  • Master's degree in engineering, construction or business is a plus.
  • P.Eng./C.Eng. or similar
