QA/QC Engineer - Civil

Company Introduction:

We are a leading EPC contracting company in Saudi Arabia, specializing in high-voltage (HV) and extra-high-voltage (EHV) substations, power plants, water treatment facilities, industrial plants, and large-scale infrastructure projects. To ensure the highest standards of quality and compliance in construction, we are seeking a QA/QC Engineer - Civil to oversee quality assurance and quality control activities across our civil engineering projects.

Position Overview:

The QA/QC Engineer - Civil will be responsible for monitoring and implementing quality control procedures in compliance with SEC, ASTM, ACI, ISO, and other international standards. This role involves inspection, documentation, compliance audits, and coordination with construction teams to ensure project quality meets specifications and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Assurance & Compliance:

  • Develop and implement QA/QC plans, procedures, and inspection test plans (ITPs) for civil construction activities.
  • Ensure compliance with SEC, ASTM, ACI, ISO 9001, and Saudi Building Code standards.
  • Conduct quality audits and inspections to identify non-conformities and corrective actions.

Material Testing & Inspection:

  • Perform quality checks on construction materials, including concrete, steel reinforcement, aggregates, and soils.
  • Coordinate with third-party testing laboratories for material and soil testing.
  • Verify batching plant operations, concrete mix designs, and curing processes.

Site Supervision & Non-Conformance Management:

  • Conduct daily site inspections to ensure construction activities meet design specifications.
  • Identify non-conformance reports (NCRs) and work with site teams to implement corrective actions.
  • Monitor earthworks, foundations, structural concrete, and finishing works for compliance.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain QA/QC records, inspection reports, and test results for audits and project handover.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly quality reports for senior management and project stakeholders.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of material approvals, RFIs, and construction quality records.

Coordination with Project Teams & Clients:

  • Work closely with civil engineers, site managers, and subcontractors to ensure quality standards.
  • Interface with clients, consultants, and regulatory bodies for inspections and approvals.
  • Attend progress meetings and provide quality-related feedback to project teams.

Continuous Improvement & Risk Management:

  • Identify areas for improvement in quality processes and implement corrective/preventive actions.
  • Develop and conduct training programs for project teams on QA/QC standards and best practices.
  • Participate in risk assessments and quality control reviews for ongoing projects.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
  • A Master's degree in Quality Management or Civil Engineering is an advantage.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in QA/QC roles for civil engineering and construction projects.
  • Experience in substations, power plants, water treatment plants, or large-scale EPC projects is preferred.

Key Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of SEC, ASTM, ACI, ISO 9001, and Saudi Building Code.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Primavera P6, and quality management software.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills for quality control challenges.
  • Strong communication skills for coordinating with multiple stakeholders.
  • Preferred Certifications:
  • SEC (Saudi Electricity Company) approval or certification is an advantage.
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or PMP certification is a plus.
