Job Title: QA/QC Engineer - Electrical

Company Introduction:

We are a leading EPC contracting company in Saudi Arabia, specializing in high-voltage (HV) and extra-high-voltage (EHV) substations, overhead transmission lines (OHTL), power plants, water treatment facilities, and industrial projects. As part of our commitment to high-quality project execution, we are seeking an experienced QA/QC Engineer - Electrical with expertise in OHTL (Overhead Transmission Lines) and Substation projects.

Position Overview:

The QA/QC Engineer - Electrical will be responsible for ensuring compliance with quality standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements in the execution of OHTL and substation projects. The role includes inspection, testing, documentation, non-conformance reporting, and coordination with project stakeholders to maintain the highest standards in electrical quality assurance.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Assurance & Compliance:

  • Implement QA/QC procedures, inspection test plans (ITPs), and method statements for OHTL and substation works.
  • Ensure compliance with SEC (Saudi Electricity Company), IEC, IEEE, NEC, and ISO 9001 standards.
  • Conduct regular audits, quality inspections, and non-conformance reporting (NCRs).

Inspection & Testing:

  • Perform incoming inspections of electrical materials, including power transformers, switchgear, insulators, conductors, and steel structures.
  • Conduct electrical tests for transmission lines and substations, including:
  • Insulation resistance testing (IR)
  • Hi-Pot/Dielectric tests
  • Relay protection testing
  • Contact resistance testing for switchgear and circuit breakers
  • Continuity and grounding resistance testing
  • Optical fiber and communication system tests
  • Monitor HV/EHV cable laying, termination, and jointing procedures for compliance.

Site Supervision & Non-Conformance Management:

  • Conduct daily quality inspections of OHTL and substation installation works.
  • Ensure proper erection, alignment, and bolting of transmission line towers and substation equipment.
  • Issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and coordinate corrective/preventive actions.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance to ensure compliance with quality standards.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain QA/QC logs, test reports, and compliance records for regulatory audits.
  • Prepare weekly/monthly quality reports for senior management.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of material approvals, RFIs, and test results.

Coordination with Project Teams & Clients:

  • Work closely with project managers, site engineers, and subcontractors to ensure compliance.
  • Coordinate with clients, consultants, and SEC representatives for approvals and inspections.
  • Participate in progress meetings and quality control discussions.

Risk Management & Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify potential quality risks and deviations, implementing corrective actions.
  • Improve QA/QC procedures and testing methodologies to enhance project efficiency.
  • Provide training sessions to project teams on electrical quality control best practices.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems Engineering.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in QA/QC for OHTL or substation projects.
  • Experience in 132kV, 220kV, or 400kV transmission line and substation projects is highly preferred.

Key Skills:

  • Expertise in OHTL, substation quality control, and electrical testing procedures.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, ETAP, PLS-CADD, and electrical testing instruments (OMICRON, Doble, Megger).
  • Strong knowledge of IEC, IEEE, SEC, and ISO quality standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills for quality-related challenges.
  • Ability to interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.

Preferred Certifications:

  • SEC (Saudi Electricity Company) approval or certification is an advantage.
  • NETA or PMP certification is a plus.
