About the role:

The Risk Manager will lead the enhancement and execution of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and Business Continuity Management (BCM) frameworks, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and global standards. This role will support the organization in identifying, assessing, mitigating, and monitoring risks, fostering a culture of proactive risk management, and integrating risk practices across Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) functions, with an emphasis on collaboration with Internal Audit (IA).

The Risk Manager will also play a pivotal role in advancing ERM maturity by implementing actionable recommendations based on strategic insights and aligning with global frameworks, such as ISO 31000:2018 Risk Management Guidelines, COSO ERM Framework, and such other applicable for risk management and business resilience practices.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

ERM and BCM Development:

  • Develop, implement, and enhance the organization's ERM Maturity Model, ensuring it aligns with corporate objectives, regulatory requirements and incorporating principles from ISO 31000:2018 and COSO ERM frameworks.
  • Integrate BCM into the ERM framework as a critical component, supporting resilience against crises and disruptions.
  • Ensure the Risk Management Framework aligns with organizational goals, focusing on governance, infrastructure, and ownership.
  • Conduct risk identification and assessments across all business functions, leveraging tools like Risk and Control Self-Assessments to identify strategic, operational, financial, reputational, and technological risks.
  • Develop risk assessment models and use qualitative and quantitative methods to assess the likelihood and impact of identified risks. Utilize Key Risk Indicators and Key Performance Indicators to monitor and measure risks effectively.
  • Regularly update the Risk Register to reflect emerging and evolving risks, and regularly monitor and review risk exposure.

Governance and Strategic Alignment:

  • Collaborate with senior leadership, including the CEO, to ensure risk management strategies align with the organization's Strategic Objectives.
  • Strengthen integration between GRC functions and IA for enhanced governance, risk ownership, and accountability.
  • Periodically review and update the Risk Management Policy, ARC Charter, and ERM Framework to ensure alignment with leading practices.
  • Design and implement risk mitigation strategies, policies, and controls to manage identified risk, including Business Impact Analysis and Crisis Management Plans.
  • Partner with IT and Cybersecurity Teams to mitigate risks related to data security and technological disruptions, adhering to standards such as ISO/IEC 27001 for information security.
  • Provide actionable recommendations categorized into governance, risk infrastructure, and ownership improvements.

Regulatory Compliance & Best Practices:

  • Ensure that the organization complies with all relevant laws, regulations, and standards, including media and broadcasting-specific regulations.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and stay up to date on evolving regulatory frameworks and best practices.
  • Stay abreast of regulatory changes affecting the media and broadcasting industry.

Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting:

  • Act as a key advisor to senior leadership and the board on matters related to risk management.
  • Prepare and present risk management reports to senior executives and Board, outlining key risks, mitigation efforts, and recommendations.
  • Promote a risk-aware culture by emphasizing the importance of Proactive Risk Management practices.
  • Design and implement risk management training programs to raise awareness of risk-related issues among employees.
  • Develop a risk culture within the organization by promoting best practices and emphasizing the importance of proactive risk identification and management.

Qualifications:

  • 14+ years of professional experience in ERM and BCM, with exposure in a similar business/corporate environment.
  • Preferred experience in the media industry.
  • Holder of a bachelor's degree in Business, Risk Management, or a related field (MBA preferred).
  • Proven experience aligning GRC and Risk function to enhance governance.
  • Proven experience in risk management.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with experience in statistical analysis software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of conveying complex information clearly.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Arabic and English is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience engaging with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
