Urban Designer

Job Description
- Responsible for initiating and developing engineering drawings through completion for assigned projects in conformance with the requirements, applicable codes, and design criteria established by the project's discipline engineers.
- Under direct supervision, completes design assignments of moderate complexity.
- Applies an intermediate level of understanding within a specific discipline.
- Familiar with codes, permits, and software applications related to the discipline.
- Familiar with the process of preparing designs and drawings using project specifications and discipline-associated written and verbal instructions in accordance with established design practices, standards, and procedures.
- Understands the purpose of vendor documents and uses them as a reference for assigned tasks.
- Basic knowledge of the use of requisitions and the role of materials management.
- Basic knowledge of the process of performing material take-offs for the discipline.
- Basic understanding of the discipline's equipment and material lists.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (Masters preferred) in a relevant design profession such as Master Planning / Urban Design / Architecture.
- Strong design and management skills.
- Capable of working on own initiative or as part of a larger multidisciplinary team.
- Able to mentor and help subordinates and peers to achieve career progression.
- Able to discuss career goals and aspirations.
- Assisting in managing teams preparing zoning and development control regulations, guidelines, processes and procedures.
- Must be conversant of the evolving standards of the profession primarily with respect to collaborative and multi-disciplinary design.
- Architectural and urban design expertise to create holistic built environments.
