Job Overview:

The Senior Data Scientist at Basamh Trading Company (BTC) will play a pivotal role in driving the company's data-driven decision-making initiatives within the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) landscape. This mid-career position requires an individual to design and execute comprehensive data science and machine learning use cases, managing the entire lifecycle from ideation to production deployment. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical acumen, enabling them to craft complex queries for data preparation tailored specifically for advanced AI applications. In addition, they will build, maintain, and optimize data pipelines to support cutting-edge AI/ML solutions, conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA), and feature engineering, while effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify AI integration opportunities. Ultimately, this individual will provide insightful analysis, thorough testing of AI models, and training support, enabling BTC to amplify its strategic initiatives and remain at the forefront of FMCG distribution in Saudi Arabia.

Job Responsibilities:

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Design and implement end-to-end data science and machine learning use cases, ensuring they align with BTC's strategic objectives.
  • Write and optimize complex SQL queries to prepare data specifically for targeted AI applications.
  • Build, maintain, and optimize robust data pipelines that facilitate seamless AI/ML solutions.
  • Conduct thorough exploratory data analysis (EDA) and feature engineering using advanced statistical techniques and visualization tools.
  • Develop, deploy, and scale machine learning models within cloud environments, employing containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Oversee the management and execution of AI-driven projects, collaborating with various departments to ensure integration and alignment with business goals.
  • Analyze data-driven insights to enhance decision-making processes across the organization.
  • Conduct regular testing and validation of AI models, ensuring high accuracy and reliability.
  • Provide training and support for team members in utilizing AI tools and technologies effectively.
  • Monitor current industry trends and advancements in artificial intelligence to guide strategic planning and implementation.
  • Develop comprehensive documentation for AI projects and processes, ensuring knowledge transfer and best practices are maintained.
  • Assist in budgeting and resource allocation specific to AI initiatives, balancing stakeholder needs with project objectives.
  • Evaluate vendor solutions and maintain robust relationships with external AI partners to leverage emerging technologies.
  • Present analytical findings and actionable recommendations to senior management to drive impactful strategic initiatives.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 2-4 years of relevant work experience in AI/ML or data analytics specific to the FMCG sector is preferred.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, with expertise in libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, PySpark, Plotly, Streamlit, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, LangChain, and FastAPI.
  • Proficient in designing and managing data pipelines and ETL workflows relevant for ML model deployments.
  • Expertise in machine learning algorithms, statistical modeling, and predictive analytics.
  • Proficient in MLOps principles, including model versioning, monitoring, and automation of machine learning workflows.
  • Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration of solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, especially Azure, including but not limited to Azure ML, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Databricks.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills suitable for conveying complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities to interpret complex datasets and derive actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in advanced data visualization techniques to communicate findings effectively.
  • In-depth understanding of machine learning principles and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Familiarity with statistical methods and their application in real-world business scenarios.
  • Experience with natural language processing (NLP) and developing applications powered by large language models (LLMs) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of the FMCG sector dynamics and challenges pertaining to data-driven decision-making.
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills to work effectively across diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Exceptional time management and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects concurrently and prioritize tasks.
