The Cybersecurity Section Manager leads a team of cybersecurity professionals in planning and executing security operations. This role ensures the protection of the organization's information assets and infrastructure by implementing security strategies, managing technologies, responding to incidents, and maintaining compliance. The manager provides technical leadership and drives continuous improvement within their assigned cybersecurity section.

Responsibilities:

Team Leadership and Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of cybersecurity analysts, engineers, or specialists within their assigned section (e.g., Security Operations Center (SOC), Vulnerability Management, Identity and Access Management).
  • Assign tasks, set performance expectations, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  • Identify training needs and facilitate professional development opportunities for team members.

Strategy Implementation and Execution:

  • Implement and enforce the organization's cybersecurity policies, standards, and procedures within their section.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of the overall cybersecurity strategy.
  • Ensure the effective deployment and management of security tools and technologies relevant to their section.

Security Operations and Monitoring:

  • Oversee the day-to-day security operations within their section, ensuring timely and effective response to security events and alerts.
  • Monitor key security metrics and provide regular reports on the performance of their section.
  • Ensure the proper functioning and maintenance of security infrastructure.

Risk Management and Vulnerability Management:

  • Contribute to the identification, assessment, and mitigation of cybersecurity risks.
  • Oversee vulnerability scanning, penetration testing, and the remediation of identified vulnerabilities within their area of responsibility.
  • Lead and coordinate the initial response and investigation of security incidents within their section.
  • Ensure proper documentation of security incidents and the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Participate in post-incident reviews to identify lessons learned and improve incident response processes.

Compliance and Governance:

  • Ensure compliance with relevant local and international cybersecurity regulations, standards, and frameworks (e.g., NCA Cybersecurity Framework, ISO 27001, GDPR).
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of security documentation, including policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Stakeholder Communication and Collaboration:

  • Communicate effectively with other IT teams, business units, and external stakeholders on cybersecurity matters.
  • Provide regular updates to management on the status of security operations, incidents, and initiatives within their section.
  • Collaborate with other cybersecurity teams to ensure a cohesive and comprehensive security posture.

Technology Evaluation and Implementation:

  • Evaluate new and emerging cybersecurity technologies and make recommendations for adoption.
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of new security solutions within their section.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in cybersecurity.
  • Relevant professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CompTIA Security+, CEH, or other industry-recognized cybersecurity certifications.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, frameworks, and best practices.
  • Experience with various security technologies and tools relevant to their section (e.g., SIEM, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, vulnerability scanners, identity management systems).
  • Knowledge of relevant cybersecurity regulations and standards.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a technical team.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
