About the Role:

As the Gallery Construction Manager, you will be at the heart of managing all gallery construction activities, ensuring the seamless integration of design and construction elements for our high-profile museum project. You will oversee the construction of exhibition spaces, galleries, and cultural displays, ensuring that every detail meets the highest standards of quality and aesthetic integrity. Working closely with architects, designers, engineers, and contractors, your role will be crucial in transforming design concepts into physical, immersive environments that tell powerful stories.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gallery Construction Oversight: Manage the construction and fit-out of gallery spaces, ensuring adherence to design specifications and quality standards.
  • Project Coordination: Lead and coordinate all construction activities, from planning and procurement to execution and completion, ensuring the gallery spaces are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
  • Collaborate with Design Teams: Work closely with architects, designers, and exhibit specialists to ensure the galleries and exhibition spaces are built to the highest technical and aesthetic standards.
  • Quality Control: Monitor construction processes and maintain quality control, ensuring all gallery elements, including lighting, exhibit structures, and finishes, meet required standards.
  • Site Management: Oversee daily site operations, ensuring that construction schedules are maintained, safety protocols are followed, and any issues are addressed promptly.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Act as the primary point of contact between the client, project team, contractors, and suppliers, keeping all stakeholders informed about progress, challenges, and solutions.
  • Contractor Management: Manage relationships with contractors and suppliers, ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of materials and services needed for the construction of gallery spaces.
  • Risk Management: Proactively identify potential risks to the project and develop mitigation strategies to ensure smooth construction execution.
  • Budget & Cost Control: Oversee the financial aspects of the gallery construction process, ensuring that costs are controlled and that resources are efficiently allocated.
  • Post-Construction Evaluation: Ensure that all gallery spaces are thoroughly inspected upon completion and that any outstanding issues are addressed before final handover.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Extensive Experience: 8+ years in construction and fit-out management, with a focus on gallery, exhibition, or museum spaces.
  • Fit-Out & Construction Expertise: A deep understanding of the fit-out process, from initial design to final execution, in both commercial and cultural projects.
  • Museum & Gallery Knowledge: Proven experience in managing gallery and museum construction projects, with a solid understanding of the unique requirements of such spaces.
  • Project Management Skills: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders, tight schedules, and complex requirements while ensuring timely and successful project delivery.
  • Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach to construction, ensuring that every element of the gallery meets the highest standards.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Excellent leadership skills with a collaborative approach to working with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and clients.
  • Health & Safety Knowledge: In-depth understanding of health and safety regulations within the construction industry and museum environments.
  • Qualifications: A degree in construction management, architecture, or a related field is preferred. Professional certifications are an added bonus.
