The world of gaming and esports is expanding rapidly, and we're looking for a Senior Community Manager who will drive the community engagement strategy for the Esports World Cup (EWC), with a primary focus on Discord and other key platforms.

This role will lead a team of contractors and freelancers, developing and executing community communication plans, interactive campaigns, and engagement initiatives that foster an inclusive and passionate esports community. Collaborating closely with the Esports World Cup Foundation, internal EFG teams, and external partners, the Senior Community Manager will ensure alignment with the overall brand strategy while managing fan interactions, moderating discussions, and gathering insights to enhance community growth. Success in this role requires a strategic mindset, strong leadership, and a deep understanding of esports communities, ensuring the EWC remains an engaging and valuable experience for fans worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and support the community management and fan engagement strategy for Esports World Cup
  • Drive implementation of fan engagement component of social media and marketing campaigns for Esports World Cup
  • Build the Discord server strategy to ensure high engagement of the community(-ies) and set the guidelines for community-centric communication
  • Own and monitor community management goals and KPIs
  • Work closely with social media and creative team to integrate Discord communication into overall comms plans
  • Communicate updates and reports efficiently for internal stakeholders.
  • Work cross-functionally with global teams across multiple disciplines and departments including Marketing, Creative, PR, Sales, and others to articulate product and brand vision
  • Brief departments, freelancers, and agencies with their scopes of work - lead a team of contractors and freelancers on site
  • Maintain knowledge of the cultural landscape, industry trends, audience needs and interests, to provide relevant content for engagement

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with a discipline in Marketing, Communications, or similar discipline, or equivalent experience in social media, community management or content agency
  • Experience managing freelance / remote teams and agencies
  • 6+ years of relevant experience in social media or agency work
  • Experience working with other creative teams, content producers, media agencies, product management, content creators, external stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of the esports market landscape
  • Excellent English skills (written and spoken), 2nd language is a plus.
  • Well-versed in community management, social media, live streaming, digital content, social analytics, and audience segmentation
  • In-depth knowledge of various community platforms (eg. Discord, Reddit), as well as good understanding of social media audiences and trends
  • Experience working with essential digital tools (GDrive, Trello, Adobe Photoshop / Premiere Pro)
  • Strong experience in Community or community-related fields; preferably in gaming. Track record of running social media campaigns (organic and paid)
  • Experience working with younger audiences in a digital space; experience with esports / gaming or entertainment / sports a plus
