**Basic Function**:
The clinical risk management specialist will support the Clinical Risk Director in the development of risk mitigation strategies, building high reliability in high risk processes, assisting in clinical review of identified cases, supporting individual staff and teams to enhance open communication, and be proficient in the use of tools such as Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for retrospective reviews and Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) for prospective review of systems and processes. This person will also support the medical legal processes as directed by the Risk Director and Legal counsel.

**Scope**:
Processes incident reports and creates reports within DATIX system for actions by assigned teams. Notifies the Director of Risk of any serious adverse events and initiates appropriate actions. Maintains confidentiality of all case information. Daily meetings with Risk Director for communication of all findings Ensures that all adverse events are reported to the appropriate stakeholders with notification to the Risk Director for final check prior to sending. Provides education to staff on aspects of clinical risk management on an ongoing basis.

**Principal Contacts**:
Works with all levels of staff. Primary contacts are Director of Risk Management and Chief of Quality & Patient Safety.

**Principal Duties**:

- Analysis and interpretation of data from JHAH databases, EPIC, DATIX, and other sources.
- Assists clinical patient safety teams with presentation and publication of their data and findings.
- Works in collaboration with Risk team, Patient Safety Officers, Quality Improvement and Quality Analytics Teams.
- Provides education on aspects of data analysis, research and publication to all levels of staff. Assists with maintaining accurate and confidential data.
- Assist with the performance of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for retrospective reviews and Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA).

**Education**:
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a Health related discipline required.

**Experience**:

- At least 3 years’ experience medical surgical nursing with intensive care background preferred.
- Past Experience in leading teams in the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for retrospective reviews and Failure Mode Effect. Analysis (FMEA) processes

**Certifications/Other requirements as applicable**:

- Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) or will be certified as CPHRM within 2 years
- Detail oriented, conscientious and systematic with a high level of accuracy to do the job.
