VDC/BIM Manager

Primary Responsibilities - Strategic

The digital team lead must be able to convey the technology solution to architecture, engineering, and construction professionals. This includes sales/client-facing presentations and meetings.
Lead technology R&D activities and manage initiatives, including innovative technology implementations on projects.

**Key Responsibilities**:
Lead a team that plans, coordinates, and implements VDC (Virtual Design and Construction) processes utilizing appropriate technology platforms through the project life cycle.
Establish and manage project-specific scope for BIM and VDC efforts.
Consult with designers, consultants, and contractors to establish and maintain file management and BIM protocols.
Develop new ways to utilize model-based information in various phases of construction projects.
Stay well informed on BIM / VDC best practices and evolving software.
Research, develop and document processes, workflows, and standards for new software and technology.
Assist and support the pre-construction team’s use of BIM/VDC for project pursuits, estimating and 4D planning.
Measure and track the successful use of BIM/VDC technology on PRECON projects.
Manage relationships with technology vendors and resellers.
Collaborate with IT (Information Technology) to equip the staff with proper hardware and software tools for the projects.
Educate subcontractors/partners and clients on technology and collaborative workflows.
Participate in coordination/clash resolution meetings on BIM projects.
Coordinate VDC strategy with management and other department heads.

Excellent leadership skills with experience collaborating with cross-functional teams
Bachelor’s /Master’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or completion of Construction Management Certificate Program, or equivalent experience.
Minimum of eight years of experience in construction industry.
3 - 5 years of experience managing or leading a team preferred.
Demonstrates good organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Ability to travel to construction project sites and regional offices as required.
Advanced Proficiency in Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and other design authoring platforms is required.
Advanced knowledge of contractual delivery methods for design and construction projects.
Experience with 3D collaboration processes and tools (BIM360/ACC suite, Aconex, Plannerly, synchro, fuzor, clash tracking, laser scanning, model-based point layout).
Experience in working/preparing RFP, BEP, AIR, EIR and MIDP.
Knowledge of supporting VDC productivity tools (Revit API and add-ins, Dynamo, Bluebeam, etc.).
Advanced knowledge of industry standard VDC documentation (BEP (BIM Execution Plan), BIM Forum, ISO19650 Part 1-5, BS (British Standards) 1192:2007+A2:2016, COBie (Construction Operations Building Information Exchange), IFC, etc.)
Advanced proficiency in writing standards and guidelines.
Understanding of building design and construction sequencing.
Experience facilitating spatial planning to develop the discipline "Spatial Allocation Zones" for all MEP (Mech, Elec, Plumbing) systems.
Experience with providing clash reports and clash resolution guidance for the project team.
