**Job Description**:
Knowledge:
1) A good grasp of communications planning and acting in a consultant capacity to the client

2) Be able to develop a good rapport with media owners and colleagues within Starcom and the creative agencies.

3) Develop an understanding of the client’s business, their products, services, customer profile, marketing and business objectives, competitors and sales.

4) Understand the strengths and weaknesses of the major media (press, TV, radio, cinema, outdoor, digital), the fundamentals of how they are traded and approximate costs and audience delivery and the strengths and

5) Develop a comprehension of what is or isn’t on strategy and be able to develop communication strategy with the assistance of the AMD / MD

6) Sound knowledge of the media market place and opportunities available

7) Expertise in all research data, including client research such as: Sales Data, Awareness tracking, Competitive Data etc

8) Be familiar with and able to sell advanced research tools such as Space ID, MAD, S'core ideation, Budget Calculator, S'core ROI, Consumer Value targeting, KPI Tracker

9) Understand how research is conducted for all the major media e.g. Expertise in all relevant industry software and systems: Statex, ZPlan, TGI, TNS Tracker (if applicable)

10) Sound knowledge of IMS (Integrated Marketing Solutions) and acts as an industry expert on the client and media landscape

11) Understand clients overall business and marketing objectives displaying a sound knowledge of all media, including TV, print, radio, Outdoor and Online. Working efficiently as part of an overall integrated team.

**Skills**:1) To build a relationship with client and agency counterparts (e.g. Brand Managers, Account Execs/Account Managers)

2) Be numerate, literate and accurate in all aspects of your work

3) Possess good communication and selling skills

4) Microsoft office

Product:
1) To help the team as required, e.g. perform competitive analyses, answering direct information requests, evaluation of media options

2) To work with Buying Team to: Provide them with an investment brief, Collaborate in the development of implementation plan, Liaise with them regarding any issues on on-going plans

3) To undertake additional projects beyond client responsibilities as requested, e.g. help on new business, analysis for overseas offices

People:
1) To grow the strategic thinking capabilities of the team

2) To ensure that the team has a motivated work environment

3) Oversees and is responsible for the smooth running of all client / supplier and interdepartmental relationships

Operations:
1) To ensure all media briefs are accurate before being sent to the Buying Team or Specialist Units (Digital, Liquid Thread, Research, etc.)

2) To create and develop a strategic framework that delivers on the client's objectives - Formulation of a media strategy, Consumer Insights Analysis, Identification of business challenges facing the client, Competitive Landscape Analysis, Media selection, Maximizing cost-efficiency, Timing and laydown, Strike weights, Budget levels by market

3) To start to foster relationships with the clients where the planner is respected for their media skills and ability to add value to the effectiveness of clients’ media investment.

4) Manage a staff of media professionals. Develop the staff through performance management and giving consistent feedback. Identify with staff, developmental opportunities and help them to work toward their professional goals

5) Working with & promoting services of specialised Vivaki units to clients

6) Responsible for the day to day workings of the client team in conjunction with the Media Director offering support, training and insight to team members

7) Introducing new initiatives (eg. Newsletters, workshops/training, new learnings

8) Participating & leading new business pitches

**Qualifications**:
**Ideally, we are looking for someone who has**:

- BS/MS degree in marketing or a related field
- A four-year college education and 7 to 9 years of relevant experience, some of which includes managing a team.
- Strong technical skills in offline and digital.
- Exceptional communication skills - you’re skilled at interpreting client objectives and clearly articulating proposed media strategies and recommendations
- A strong, proven ability to teach analytic skills to staff, developing, encouraging and inspiring them to grow
