Metadata Specialist

We are seeking a super-experienced **Metadata Specialist **to support the overall metadata approach, undertaking activities directed by the Head of the Metadata Management Section.

In this role, you will undertake resource management activities and provide support for the management of Metadata covering all dimensions of metadata including technical metadata, business metadata, process metadata and governance metadata.

**Responsibilities**:
**Policies, Processes & Procedures**
- Assist in the development and implementation of the enterprise Metadata management policies, procedures & controls over different business processes and sources of Metadata

**Day-to-day operations**
- Follow the day-to-day operations related to their own job to ensure continuity of work

**Metadata**
- Address Metadata queries across all Sources of data, Data Warehouse & Operational Data Repository
- Develop & maintain a Business glossary, directed by the Head of the Metadata Management Section to manage all Types of Metadata, Business, Technology, Governance, Process for all Systems and Processes
- Develop & maintain Metadata business standards as directed by the Head of Metadata Management and ensure synergy between different standards
- Participate in building Metadata awareness
- Deliver the business terms in accordance with the EDMO asset data model
- Maintain a sustainable and complete data linage across data sources
- Analyze data sources for compatibility with metadata technology
- Deliver and maintain an effective and efficient metadata repository capture process.
- Deliver and maintain governance and standards for bank metadata, and provide input about the required technologies to address those needs.

**Communication and Transfer of Knowledge**
- Assist in building up the importance and usage of the Metadata across the Organization
- Assist the consumer of the data & information (e.g. Business Champion, Bl Team, Advanced Analytics & Data Mining Team, BT and other EDMO teams) in how to use the Metadata Engine
- Work under the direction of the Head of the Metadata Management Section to consistently undertake the role of Enterprise Metadata Management specialist at all levels
- Communicate with the Data Governance section to ensure the efficient storage of governance rules as metadata artifacts against the data to be governed

**Continuous Improvement**
- Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of Metadata management processes and practices
- Review ‘international best practice’, & assess suitability for the improvement of RB business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement in the metadata management area
- Assess the suitability for use in the Bank of International metadata management standards such as OMG (Common Warehouse Meta-data (CWM)), Information Management Metamodel (IMM), World Wide Web Consortium (W3C): RDF (Relational Definition Framework), Dublin Core: Dublin Core Metadata Initiative (DCMI)

**Reporting**
- Assist in the preparation of timely and accurate reports to meet company and department requirements, policies and standards

**Safety, Quality & Environment**
- Comply with relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls to ensure a healthy and safe work environment

**Related Assignments**
- Performs other related duties or assignments as directed

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor’s degree in MIS/Computer Science of Information Technology
- 4-6 years of relevant experience in Data Management in general
- 1-2 years of relevant experience in Metadata management
- Advanced level of English

**Technical knowledge areas**:

- In-depth knowledge of the architecture required for metadata management
- Knowledge of data management concepts and techniques
- Knowledge of metadata management objectives, practices, techniques, and goals
- Knowledge of metadata management capture & exploitation approaches
- Knowledge of the operations, products, and services of banks and financial institutions
- Understanding of Oracle EDW data model for banking and financial institutions
- Understanding of the bank’s strategy, objectives, products, and services
- Understanding the market trends and competitor’s awareness
- Understanding of Enterprise Business Intelligence and Reporting principles and key components
