Senior Manager - Operational Risk - Risk Management

The position is responsible for the comprehensive management of operational risk, defined as the risk of loss caused by inadequate or failed processes, people, and systems or from external events. He/she will manage the capabilities to identify, measure, control, and monitor operational risk, providing an early warning system of the firm's key risk indicators. He/she identifies operating and residual risks related to various aspects of the organization's operations and ensures business resilience to enable business continuity. He works with internal stakeholders to establish risk criteria across operations functions, proposes controls that support risk mitigation plans, and develops risk reporting mechanisms.

**Responsibilities**
- Develop and define department strategies, plans, and budgets, and ensure that this supports the function's and organization's strategic objectives.
- Define operational risk management policies and procedures; develop methods for the measurement of operational risk exposure and RAROC across risk classes;
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements on Operational Risk Management
- Develop approval procedures and guidelines on operational risk limits by product/transaction
- Participate in the evaluation of new products, services, and processes for their impact on the firm's operational risk profile and recommend specific process control targets for all new products/services as appropriate
- Develop Operational Risk Management analysis reports, and ensure that information is reported to senior management and business heads
- Provide counsel to business heads on operational risk management issues
- Acts as the firm's liaison with external regulatory or legal bodies on operational risk management issues.
- Oversee the implementation of the OPRISK system tool, and manage continuous development
- Develop a Non-financial Risk Dashboard, highlighting major operational risk exposures and actions taken; facilitate Risk Assessment Workshops or expert risk assessments; work in cooperation with Internal Audit and Compliance.
- Ensure that the SOPs are updated and that all staff are aware of the context in which to carry out their day-to-day duties
- Enforce, incorporate, and comply with all necessary controls and related information security (EIS) policies, procedures, practices, training, reporting, personal due diligence and vigilance, within departmental/unit activities and operations

**Qualifications**

**Preferred Qualifications**
- A tertiary-level qualification from an internationally recognized institution (say Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Mathematical Finance, or Economics)
- Industry-recognized certifications in CFA or FRM are a plus.

**Years & Nature of Experience**
- Would have 8 to 10 years of equivalent experience in Risk Management in the banking and financial services sector
- Has led technical or process areas in their area; excels at leading teams and worked effectively with other areas and stakeholders outside their function
- If a manager of others has impacted team culture through their work
- Has demonstrated ability to link technical contribution back to business impact for their team or area
- Strong technology experience and understanding of IT and Cyber Risk (desirable)
- Demonstrated proficiency in setting up and managing an operational risk capability and working effectively with stakeholders to implement operational risk management practices
- Strong project management and implementation capabilities
- Responsive and hands-on, self-motivated, skilled communicator, committed to building a best-practice Risk Management function that has the right balance in terms of control and business support.
