About the Role

This is a newly created position that will have overall responsibility for gathering, understanding, monitoring, and developing market intelligence, insights, and cost-competitive analysis for the low-carbon hydrogen market and carbon economy.

The successful candidate will execute activities related to pricing and cost competitiveness trends, low-carbon hydrogen carrier developments/competitiveness, carbon economy evolution, and technology developments that will help shape the market going forward.

Key Responsibilities
  • Market Intelligence and Analysis
    • Assess new developments in the low-carbon hydrogen and ammonia markets from a regulatory, pricing, and market perspective.
    • Establish and shape pricing mechanisms for low-carbon hydrogen and ammonia.
  • Competitive Analysis
    • Develop models and conduct competitive analysis of landed-cost for low-carbon hydrogen and ammonia for the company's target markets and competition, based on feedstock, technology, and hydrogen carriers.
  • Market Research and Development
    • Stay up-to-date with all relevant hydrogen technology and market developments.
    • Keep up-to-date with the future carbon economy and its application to the company and the wider hydrogen industry.
  • Strategic Support
    • Provide market insight and context on the low-carbon hydrogen competitive landscape to help shape strategy.
    • Monitor key competitors' behaviors, identifying and documenting their sources of competitive advantage and strategies.
  • Data Management and Reporting
    • Build and manage a data repository and general market intelligence, including managing relationships with external data providers.
    • Provide insights and analysis of all applicable supply/demand fundamentals and pricing.
  • Team Collaboration and Development
    • Train and mentor junior staff.
    • Act as the company's spokesperson on hydrogen market matters.
Requirements
  • This role requires the candidate to permanently relocate to Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.
  • Bachelor's degree in Economics/Business or an Engineering-related field. An MBA, M.S., or PhD in Chemical Engineering or another advanced professional engineering degree, and/or a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or registration is highly desirable.
  • 10 years of experience and a proven track record in the hydrogen/ammonia related markets, with specialist knowledge and experience of products, derivatives, applications, and markets.
  • Understanding of current technologies and processes for low-carbon hydrogen (LCH) and ammonia, and different LCH carriers.
  • Experience with databases such as I.H.S. and similar.
