Job Summary

The Safety Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring the safe and environmentally responsible delivery of our projects. Working closely with the HSE Manager, this position involves identifying and mitigating HSE risks, developing and implementing effective HSE strategies, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and company policies.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with the HSE Manager to develop and implement effective HSE strategies;
  2. Conduct thorough risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to ensure the safe delivery of projects;
  3. Mentor and advise project teams on HSE best practices and ensure technical and regulatory compliance;
  4. Develop, maintain, and implement HSE-related documentation and procedures in line with local legislation and client requirements;
  5. Schedule and coordinate regular HSE meetings and training sessions to promote awareness and understanding of HSE policies and procedures;
  6. Investigate incidents and accidents, conducting thorough root cause analyses and implementing corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence;
  7. Monitor and report on HSE Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to stakeholders, including clients and corporate headquarters;
  8. Develop and implement comprehensive HSE plans, including site-specific safety plans and emergency response procedures;
  9. Lead regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with HSE policies and procedures;
  10. Collaborate with project teams to identify and address potential HSE risks and opportunities for improvement;

Requirements

  1. Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as engineering, safety, or environmental science;
  2. At least 3 years of experience in HSE management, preferably in the rail or transportation industry;
  3. Proficiency in KSA standards and codes, with knowledge of international best practices;
  4. NEBOSH or IOSH certification is desirable;
  5. Experience in auditing and inspection, particularly in the context of occupational health and safety;
