As a part of our organization, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the design, construction, and maintenance of various facilities with a focus on Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Design and Development
  • Plan, schedule, and provide work direction for the preparation of designs, reports, correspondence, and related data to ensure the efficiency, adequacy, and conformance to overall objectives of all phases of very complex design problems.
  • Develop, plan, and coordinate activities of maintenance work, repair, and preventive maintenance for MEP systems, maintenance equipment requirements, and utilization.
Emergency Response
  • Respond to emergency requests for repairs in a timely and safe manner, keeping the customer informed of the progress; ensure the proper measures are taken to prevent future incidents.
Engineering Studies
  • Formulate the basis for an engineering study by providing rationale and facility requirement forecast in any of several basic or special engineering fields. Evaluate data as to scope, effect on existing MEP systems, economic value, and long-range planning and budgetary considerations.
Project Management
  • Initiate detailed work outline and make decisions as to basic approaches, processes, and/or equipment for MEP systems. Perform work and/or delegate work to other engineers for final development of specialized or technical proposals and proposed projects.
  • Bring all elements of a project together, make certain that all elements proceed satisfactorily on schedule, and initiate corrective action as required for MEP systems.
Facilities Improvement
  • Recommend new installations or modifications to improve existing facilities and standardization within broad fields of endeavor. Estimate costs, prepare justifications, and complete expenditure requests as required for MEP systems.
Collaboration and Communication
  • Maintain close contact with operating supervisors in the Office Services and Building Maintenance groups. These contacts are essential to fully evaluate the collective effect on current and future spare parts and material requirements that may result from modifications, expansion, or changes in equipment or building specifications for MEP systems.
  • Liaise with Materials Control, Purchasing, and Receiving and Shipping Divisions for MEP systems.
  • Correspond with Engineering, Construction, Purchasing Offices, as applicable, regarding specifications, new sources, or new items on the market for MEP systems. Order, receive, and evaluate new MEP equipment and materials to be used in the offices.
Forecasting and Planning
  • Forecast and order materials for new MEP projects and ensure that the coordination between staff and operations, insofar as the material ordered and received, coincides for MEP systems.
Design Standards and Layout
  • Advise the Unit Supervisor on design and layout standards, codes, and overall design philosophy for MEP systems.
  • Review user requests for office space layout or internal design, evaluate the justification for the request considering benefits and costs, identify and evaluate alternatives, and initiate professional response letters to clients for MEP systems.
Design Review and Oversight
  • Examine size and scope of layout/design, effect on building services, requirements for MEP systems, equipment, and space, and functional relationships between users. Determine and plan the approach to be used in executing the design and identify and resolve any associated problems that may impact the detailed design for MEP systems.
  • Assign the detailed design work brief to design staff and review and oversee progress and quality of design for MEP systems.
Client Presentation and Satisfaction
  • Review the proposed layout/design to ensure that designs meet both user requirements and are consistent with company codes and standards; ensure that designs take account of general building facilities, e.g., power, telephone, data requirements, by liaising with the appropriate engineering personnel. Ensure that the design is within any cost limits and that any necessary MEP equipment/materials are available.
  • Present proposals to the client where the scope of the job is significant, e.g., a complete floor or building, a major conference facility. Resolve any problems and guide the design until the client is satisfied for MEP systems.
Database Maintenance
  • Ensure that the databases used on the Design System are properly maintained for MEP systems.
Job Package Review and Handover
  • Review the final job package, which includes final working drawings; details of resource requirements and any special notes; job history sheet; prior to handing the package to the Move Coordinator for implementation for MEP systems.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Perform any job-related activities as requested by the immediate supervisor/manager for MEP systems.
