Job Summary:

Saudi Arabian Bechtel Company (SABCO) is seeking a highly experienced Construction Supervisor to provide day-to-day oversight and direction to the Construction Engineers and field personnel assigned to on-site construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Protect and promote the interests and values of the company in all matters and take actions as required to satisfy responsibilities.
  2. Deliver on safety on-site operations and high-quality on the scope of works.
  3. Bring specialized knowledge and experience in executing projects in Water and Wastewater collection and treatment facilities.
  4. Coordinate and interfaces between Contractors and disciplines managing performance of the works to meet schedules and milestones.
  5. Motivate the workforce and steer the team towards a culture of collaborative teamwork.
  6. Ensure safety and quality training programs are implemented and drive a culture of high standards.
  7. Prepare for project startup with the Contractor and Project Manager. Execute project activities as required to meet day-to-day and overall objectives.
  8. Understand and apply the requirements in project documents about quality control procedures such as testing, shop drawings, material approvals, samples, mock-ups, execution of the earthworks, etc.
  9. Become familiar with each job technical specification and follow the direction about performing work within the boundaries of the contract.
  10. Keep the Construction Manager apprised of any change in contractor's activity or cost prior to incurring additional time or materials outside of the project scope.
  11. Provide input on scheduling and placement of production methodology. Plan and review the construction project and contractors' submittals with the Project Manager on a weekly basis. Supervise the site works on site.
  12. Review the contractor's method statement, risk assessment etc. and the preparation of weekly progress report, keep them properly updated, and ensure that everything feasible is done for the project to meet the required dates.
  13. Support the Construction Manager to ensure timely on-site delivery of materials and equipment furnished by the Contractor.
  14. Direct field staff to ensure their continued development by use of performance evaluations, varying assignments, and promoting positive project morale.

Requirements:

  1. Minimum 10 years' experience in construction of large-scale industrial/Infrastructure projects, preferably in large scale potable water or Water & Wastewater treatment construction projects (collection and treatment facilities) either in direct construction or construction management role in construction projects.
  2. A recognized degree in Civil Engineering.
  3. Thorough knowledge of international standards and specification and codes as applicable including safety procedures and practices associated with the construction works.
  4. Experience in heavy earthworks and reinforced concrete retaining structures.
  5. Experience in piping and welding, mechanical systems (pumps, vessels, and compressors), and/or electrical, instrumentation and automation systems preferred.
  6. Experience in providing oversight and management of Contractor performance, including providing feedback on workforce productivity and capabilities.
  7. Proven ability to publish, review and validate three-week look-ahead schedules based on project overall schedule.
  8. Knowledge and experience in the implementation of ES&H and quality management systems.
  9. Experience in KSA / Middle east / GCC is preferred.
  10. Must be able to demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills to maintain a positive work environment between all parties including the client, contractors, and other stakeholders throughout the project life cycle.
  11. Self-motivated individual with ability to work independently and exercise professional judgment, with a passion to take ownership of projects and provide sound technical leadership to contractor's staff and field engineers.
