About the Opportunity:

The American School of Jeddah is seeking an Academic Enrichment Coordinator to lead the identification, nurturing, and support of gifted and talented scholars. This role involves developing and implementing tailored programs to meet the unique needs of these scholars.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Identification and Assessment:
  • Establish clear criteria for identifying gifted and talented scholars with administration.
  • Collaborate with teachers to identify potential gifted and talented scholars.
  • Coordinate assessments to confirm scholar eligibility.
  • Coordinate CAS activities in line with IBDP program guidance.
Program Development and Implementation:
  • Design, implement, and refine curriculum and enrichment programs for gifted scholars.
  • Promote differentiated instruction within regular classrooms.
  • Organize after-school and weekend opportunities for scholars.
  • Supervise in-class programming.
  • Maintain CAS training through the International Baccalaureate program.
  • Dedicate 2 periods per week to meetings with CAS scholars and additional time for coordination (up to 40% weekly).
Scholar Support:
  • Offer academic and socio-emotional counseling specific to gifted scholars.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of gifted scholar support systems.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with gifted scholar parents, maintaining open communication channels.
  • Arrange events, workshops, or competitions for gifted scholars.
  • Assist IB Diploma scholars in planning and executing projects, emphasizing high-level scholar agency.
Collaboration and Coordination:
  • Cultivate close working relationships with administration to ensure program alignment.
  • Forge partnerships with other departments for holistic development opportunities.
  • Communicate regularly with gifted scholar parents, keeping them updated and involved.
  • Negotiate external collaborations for enrichment opportunities.
Resource Management:
  • Manage resources effectively, ensuring relevant tools and materials are current and accessible.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field.
  • Preferred: Master's degree in Gifted Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of teaching experience, preferably with gifted and talented students.
  • Background in program coordination, administration, or leadership in education.
  • Expertise in curriculum development for gifted learners.
  • Awareness of gifted and talented student needs and educational strategies.
  • Knowledge of research and best practices in gifted education.
  • Ability to design and implement differentiated instruction and enrichment programs.
  • Outstanding organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in using educational technology and managing student data.
