About the Role

Asterix Communications is seeking an experienced Estimating Manager to lead our project cost control efforts. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for forecasting estimates for specific segments of contracts, projects, or elements of our infrastructure initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Provide guidance and direction to projects for the resolution of complex project cost control problems.
  2. Interface with clients, attend regular meetings, and provide statistical reports to support business decision-making.
  3. Manage a team of Project Estimators/Specialists who are qualified to analyze, evaluate, and forecast project costs, as well as performance against established schedules with critical milestones.
  4. Assess the impacts of design/construction changes and schedule slippages on project timelines and budgets.
  5. Oversee the development and maintenance of a system to show the hierarchy of plans and schedules, ensuring project and company management are fully informed.
  6. Coordinate staffing requirements, assign and supervise project work activities, and train personnel to ensure effective project execution.
  7. Complete performance reviews and provide personnel development for assigned employees to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  8. Recommend and oversee the customization of project control systems to meet specific project requirements, ensuring seamless integration with existing processes.
  9. Evaluate the profitability and viability of products or services, providing data-driven insights to inform business decisions.
  10. Utilize computer software to prepare and review estimates and supporting documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
  11. Participate in business development efforts by gathering and presenting background data to support proposal development and client engagement.
  12. May be required to make informal or formal presentations to stakeholders, including clients and project team members.
  13. Evaluate contingency requirements using risk analysis software, identifying potential risks and developing mitigation strategies.
  14. Track projects throughout their course, recommending budget adjustments as needed to ensure project success.
  15. Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Requirements

A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent work experience) is required. 15+ years of related work experience in mega infrastructure projects and expertise in using estimating database supported software are essential. The ability to perform fundamental estimating activities typical to the engineering and construction industry is required. A fundamental understanding of engineering drawings and specifications, and the ability to learn Company utilized software and estimating systems are required. Good oral and written communication skills are necessary for effective collaboration and stakeholder engagement.

Desired Skills

Any experience with airport construction and infrastructure projects is highly desirable. Familiarity with typical project controls software such as Primavera scheduling software, Estimate/Schedule Transfer tools, Contract Manager, and DMCS (Document and Materials Control System) is preferred.
