Occupational Health and Safety Leadership

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive occupational health and safety strategy that aligns with business objectives and regulatory requirements.

  • Establish a culture of safety across the organization by promoting awareness, education, and engagement among employees, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop and implement policies, procedures, and programs to prevent injuries, illnesses, and incidents.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments, hazard identifications, and compliance audits to ensure adherence to safety regulations and industry standards.

Safety Management System

Develop and maintain a robust safety management system that incorporates best practices, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure safety performance and track progress against organizational goals.
  • Provide training and development opportunities for employees to enhance their knowledge and skills in occupational health and safety.
  • Lead investigations into workplace incidents and near-miss events to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.

Environmental Stewardship

Promote environmental sustainability and responsibility through the development and implementation of an integrated environmental strategy.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to reduce waste, conserve resources, and promote sustainable practices throughout the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, laws, and industry standards.
  • Engage with external stakeholders, including community groups and regulatory authorities, to advance environmental initiatives and partnerships.

Emergency Preparedness and Response

Develop and implement emergency preparedness and response plans to mitigate risks and minimize disruptions to business operations.

  • Conduct regular drills, exercises, and training sessions to ensure employees are prepared to respond to emergencies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop and maintain emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures and crisis communication protocols.
  • Monitor and review emergency preparedness and response efforts to identify areas for improvement.

Leadership and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills, as well as:

  • A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the industrial or manufacturing sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations, risk management principles, and crisis response strategies.
  • Excellent presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with stakeholders and employees.
