About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Chief Engineer to join our team at IHG Hotels & Resorts. As a key member of our maintenance department, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective management of our hotel's maintenance operations.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Financial Management: Develop and implement maintenance budgets, capital works programs, and engineering plans to ensure optimal performance and cost control.
  2. Capital Projects: Assist in the control of capital projects, ensuring that capital funding is allocated and budgeted in accordance with company directives and philosophy.
  3. Energy Management: Contribute to the hotel's profitability by ensuring the effective management of environmental controls and energy conservation systems. Evaluate, control, and record energy usage, and implement and upgrade energy conservation systems.
  4. Team Management: Ensure a technically competent maintenance staff by selecting, training, and developing a motivated, well-qualified maintenance team. Conduct regular work sampling studies and evaluate the performance and productivity of personnel.
  5. Communication: Represent the maintenance department at management meetings and staff meetings, and ensure regular liaison with heads of other departments to contribute to effective management decision making.
  6. Preventative Maintenance: Implement and manage a preventative maintenance program to ensure the effective operation of all mechanical and electrical systems and equipment. Conduct continual inspections of the building and ensure that preventative maintenance schedules are in operation and regularly upgraded.
  7. Guest Satisfaction: Contribute to guest satisfaction standards by ensuring that technical support services quickly address and anticipate individual needs. Ensure the safety and comfort of guests and handle requests for service in a courteous and efficient fashion.
  8. Advice and Guidance: Provide advice to senior management on all aspects of maintenance support, environmental controls, and the operational efficiency of the property.
  9. Energy Management Program: Plan, implement, and administer an energy management program by establishing energy reduction objectives, maintaining records, and regularly reporting performance against these objectives.
  10. Staff Education: Ensure staff awareness of energy management within the property by conducting regular education and training programs on energy conservation and the efficient operation of equipment in a cost-effective fashion.
  11. Compliance: Ensure adherence to all statutory regulations and fire codes by regularly reviewing policies and safety procedures. Ensure that any tests and inspections required on plant by statutory authorities are carried out as and when required, and that all records and documentation associated with such tests and surveys are correctly kept and/or displayed.
Requirements
  1. Education: High School and Diploma Degree.
  2. Language: English essential (Read, Write & Speak).
  3. Experience: Minimum 5 Years Experience.
  4. Skills: Ability to manage the department in the absence of the Director of Engineer, prepare the budget for the department.
