Job Title: Instrumentation & Control Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide expert advice and assistance to the organization, outside vendors, manufacturers, and design firms on instrument engineering matters.
  2. Originate and carry out engineering studies to determine potential problems and remedies to existing issues.
  3. Resolve complex technical problems and review data sheets for instrumentation.
  4. Inspect installations in factories and in the field.
  5. Troubleshoot complex instrumentation and control system issues in operational facilities.
  6. Develop and maintain the organization's engineering standards and design best practices.
  7. Develop and review material takeoffs and data sheets for instrumentation equipment.
  8. Evaluate and introduce best practices and new technologies from all over the world to help the organization achieve best-in-class positions.
  9. Review and evaluate the capabilities of vendors and contractors to determine their acceptability to perform major services to the organization.
  10. Act as the department representative in dealings with vendors and manufacturers.
  11. Work on or with task forces assigned to investigate incidents or solve specific problems.
  12. Perform cost analyses and value engineering studies as appropriate.
  13. Undertake special assignments requiring extensive technical experience and discretion when dealing with outside organizations.
  14. Conduct seminars in the resolution of technical problems with personnel in other engineering organizations.
  15. Write papers for peer-reviewed journals on engineering studies and projects the candidate has overseen.
  16. Act as a professional mentor to less senior specialists and engineers.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering is required, with a master's degree being desirable.
  • A Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or registration is also preferred.
  • The candidate should have 12-15 years of professional experience in the field of instrumentation and control engineering, including 5 years as an engineer in charge of technical work in instrument engineering.
  • Experience working with unconventional resources would be an advantage.
  • The candidate should have achieved industry recognition through activities in professional societies and industrial organizations, such as ASME, ASCE, ASTM, API, NACE, SEI, and others.
  • Familiarity with SCADA, DCS, and PCS systems is also required.
