Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Consultant to join our Thoracic Surgery & Lung Transplant Section at Home Instead-Bettendorf, IA. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and management in the field of Lung Transplant Surgery, under the supervision of the Consultant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clinical Responsibilities:
    • Assist the Consultant in providing required patient care and management in the field of Lung Transplant Surgery, in accordance with standards of medical care laid down by the Hospital.
    • Provide high-quality patient care in all aspects of Lung Transplant Surgery according to approved clinical privileges.
    • Provide consultation (inpatient, and emergency room) upon request and respond in a timely manner within the prescribed timeframe as outlined in Hospital policy.
    • Responsible for the timely completion, competencies, accuracy, and legibility of the medical record.
    • Provide on-call service and ensure availability and response time within the prescribed timeframe in accordance with Hospital policy.
    • Conduct daily morning rounds to identify patients ready for discharge. Ensure that discharge orders are written 24 hours prior to discharge.
    • Perform any other clinical responsibilities related to the specialty, as assigned.
  • Academic Responsibilities:
    • Provide orientation, bedside training, and supervision to interns, residents, and fellows as assigned.
    • Participate in department's educational activities and training programs of the department. Partake in national and international medical conferences.
    • Maintain and enhance professional knowledge and continuing education requirements.
  • Research Responsibilities:
    • Participate in clinical, basic, and translational research projects in accordance with Research Advisory Council Policy in order to advance knowledge, improve the quality of postgraduate education, and contribute to the national and international recognition of the Hospital.
Requirements
  • Graduation from a medical school in good standing, completion of required period of postgraduate training in a specialty and/or subspecialty, with Saudi/American Board or Canadian/UK certification, or equivalent as outlined by the Medical Staff Credentialing Committee.
  • Two (2) years of training in specialty and subspecialty plus post-training experience required.
  • Minimum of two (2) publications in Lung Transplantation.
