**Job Summary:** We are seeking an experienced Design Engineering Manager to oversee design projects for all end users/clients, ensuring high-quality, economical, and safe designs that meet building codes and budgets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and motivate a design team, providing clear direction and delegating tasks effectively.
  • Oversee design quality to ensure the design output meets high standards, providing constructive feedback and coaching designers.
  • Manage the team by assigning/distributing workloads, scheduling, and ensuring the team has the tools and training they need.
  • Capable of managing project design within budget.
  • Identify potential problems and develop solutions to mitigate risks that could impact the project timeline or budget.
  • Work closely with clients, site engineers, and other site teams to understand project needs and ensure everyone is aligned.
  • Bridge the gap between client vision and design execution, translating client requirements into clear design goals.
  • Excel at clear and concise communication, keeping stakeholders informed, managing client expectations, and effectively presenting design ideas.
  • Stay up to date on design trends and technologies.
  • Implement and improve design processes for efficiency.
  • Ensure that NAQUA policies, rules, and regulations are implemented within the domain.
  • Ensure the performance of all the responsibilities of the Design & Drafting Section.
  • Coordinate and develop SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) and specifications to monitor the quality of PMD Services and Design & Drafting Section work.
  • Coordinate, supervise, prepare, monitor, and control the design development of projects, including on-time preparation and completion of detail design/shop, drafting, and as-built drawings.
  • Coordinate, supervise, and prepare design calculations of projects.
  • Check that all works in the area of assignment conform with quality standards, contract documents, accepted standards, government regulations, and company quality control programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Resolve project design-related problems and bottlenecks encountered at site and during project execution.
  • Coordinate, supervise, monitor, and record sub-contract specialized design jobs and conduct regular site inspections of ongoing projects.
  • Examine, review, and sign design drawings for completeness and accuracy.
  • Develop and prepare project design schedules that answer the questions: why, what, whom, and when of project designs.
  • Direct, supervise, and maintain a log of project design documents.
  • Prepare and submit bi-weekly highlight design and drafting progress reports.
  • Assist in supervising the testing and commissioning of completed works, prepare acceptance procedures based on accepted criteria, and secure sign-offs.
  • Prepare contract agreements and documents for sub-contracts of project designs and participate in the negotiation of business contracts.
  • Perform other works relevant to the scope of functions that may be assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Engineering graduate, preferably in Civil Engineering, with fifteen (15) years of experience and well-rounded in design and construction.
  • Computer literate in AutoCAD and other engineering design software.
