Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Discipline Lead to join our team at Egis Saudi Engineering Consultancy. As a Discipline Lead, you will be responsible for leading the Mechanical Engineering team and providing technical expertise to deliver high-quality projects.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Technical Leadership:
    Lead the Mechanical Engineering team with technical expertise and serve as the primary technical authority for the delivery team.
  2. Developing Quality and Process Management:
    Define and implement quality assurance and quality control processes, apply and oversee policies related to process, quality, and training, and ensure accuracy and technical correctness in QA/QC documentation.
  3. Team Development and Motivation:
    Train, develop, and guide engineers and design teams, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and promote a collaborative work environment.
  4. Project Contribution:
    Contribute to all project stages from inception to detailed delivery, conduct regular stage reviews, and gather client feedback for improvements.
  5. Documentation and Standards:
    Standardize documentation, including calculations, drawings, reports, and specifications, update specifications, and work with site teams to integrate lessons learned.
  6. Industry Engagement and Knowledge Sharing:
    Keep the team updated on industry developments, technologies, and innovations, engage in professional societies, contribute papers, and participate in conferences.
  7. Additional Responsibilities:
    Possess knowledge of buildability, construction techniques, procurement routes, risk, and claim assessment, demonstrate critical thinking and analytical skills, exhibit strong attention to detail, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills, and ensure Health & Safety practices are embedded in all work in line with company policies.
Qualifications and Experience
  1. Bachelors or master's degree in Building Services / Electrical / Mechanical Engineering.
  2. Chartered member of an internationally recognized professional body (e.g. CIBSE, MIET, ASHRAE).
  3. Minimum of 12 years' experience, with 8 years' experience in the Middle East.
  4. Proven track record in building services design with different types of sectors, including high rise, commercial, residential, retail, healthcare, industrial, and refurbishment.
  5. Proven record as a Discipline Lead Expert on complex projects.
  6. Experienced at developing complex solutions, writing reports and specifications, implementing innovation, and presenting to clients.
Technical Skills and Knowledge
  1. Proven ability to carry out both manual and computer-aided calculations, problem solving, technical and financial analyses, etc.
  2. Competent use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite and engineering specific software.
  3. Detailed knowledge of BIM / digitalisation techniques and standards.
  4. Strong software capability and proficiency in IES, HAP, Hevacomp, AutoCAD, REVIT, and Navisworks.
  5. Excellent knowledge of local and international design standards, BSEN, CIBSE, ASHRAE, NFPA, etc.
  6. Excellent knowledge of local statutory authorities' regulations and submission requirements across the Middle East, mainly, UAE and KSA.
  7. Advanced knowledge of Mechanical Engineering Principles, HVAC, CHW, and FLS design.
  8. Sustainable design practices and technologies.
  9. Maintain and participate in CPD events to develop own expertise.
