Job Title: Environmental Scientist

About the Role:

Asterix Communications is seeking an experienced Environmental Scientist to join our team. As an Environmental Scientist, you will be responsible for coordinating Environmental and Social Impact Assessments and support studies, managing projects independently, and developing key client relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Coordination: Coordinate Environmental and Social Impact Assessments and support studies, including scheduling, planning, forecasting, invoicing, and general project management.
  2. Project Management: Manage projects independently and work with a team to provide mentorship support to juniors.
  3. Client Relationships: Develop and establish key client relationships.
  4. Proposal Development: Develop proposal responses to client opportunities, including technical scope of work, pricing, and commercial terms.
  5. Subcontractor Management: Procure and coordinate subcontractors.
  6. Technical Reporting: Prepare technical reports, in whole or in part, depending on the size and complexity of the document and key subject matter areas.
  7. Technical Tasks: Perform moderately complex technical tasks or plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates project work for large work scopes.
  8. Regulatory Compliance: Knowledge of and adherence to KSA environmental regulations and standards, IFC PS, and Equator Principles.
  9. Technical Competency: Technical competency in a combination of areas within the environmental field, including waste management and treatment, hydrology, geohydrology, ecology, geology, etc.
  10. Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills and the capacity to manage moderately complex technical tasks.
  11. Environmental Audits: Conduct environmental audits and develop comprehensive environmental audit reports.
  12. ESMP Development: Develop Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMPs).
  13. Environmental Risk Management: Experience in creating and managing Environmental Risk Registers to identify, assess, and mitigate potential environmental risks.
  14. Environmental Due Diligence: Conduct Environmental Due Diligence, evaluating the environmental aspects of projects, acquisitions, or investments, and providing expert recommendations.
  15. Industry Standards: Familiarity with industry-specific environmental standards and best practices.

Qualifications:

  1. Education: B.S. degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or any other Earth/Biological Sciences-related fields of study.
  2. Experience: 5 years' experience working in the Environmental Consulting Field.
  3. Work Experience: Work experience in the Middle East will be advantageous.
  4. Technical Skills: Proficient in MS Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  5. Language Skills: Strong English proficiency.
  6. Soft Skills: Excellent communication, both verbal and written, and organizational abilities.
  7. Teamwork: Effective teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and subcontractors.
  8. Regulatory Interaction: Willingness and ability to interact with regulatory agencies, stakeholders, clients, and develop effective teamwork relationships.
  9. Attention to Detail: Detail-oriented, with a commitment to quality and compliance.
  10. Self-Motivation: Self-motivated and able to work efficiently under guidance.
  11. Professional Development: Willingness to continuously develop knowledge and skills in environmental regulations and practices.
