Position Reports to: Data Center Facility Manager

Job Summary: The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the data center's mechanical and electrical infrastructure. This includes performing daily monitoring and maintenance activities, overseeing work orders, and ensuring compliance with facility guidelines and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Infrastructure Monitoring: Perform daily monitoring of the data center's mechanical and electrical infrastructure, including building management systems (BMS) and alarm management.
  2. Maintenance and Repair: Perform planned and unplanned maintenance activities, including executing work orders, verifying maintenance tasks, and witnessing vendor work.
  3. Compliance and Governance: Ensure adherence to facility guidelines and procedures, including developing and implementing standard operating procedures (SOPs) and emergency operating procedures (EOPs).
  4. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with facility maintenance supervisors, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and issue resolution.
  5. Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve equipment failures, and respond to emergency scenarios.
  6. Inventory Management: Manage spare parts and consumables inventories, and maintain tools calibrated and in good condition.
  7. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and recommend changes to SOPs, EOPs, and MoPs.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in data center operations, including experience with MEP equipment specifications, performance requirements, and operating conditions.
  • Skills and Abilities: Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to work under pressure, adaptability, and ability to multi-task.

Working Conditions: The Mechanical Engineer will work in a fast-paced data center environment, with a rotational on-call shift. The ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing situations is essential.
