Roles and responsibilities
  • Supervising Laundry Staff:
    • Leading and mentoring the laundry team to ensure efficient and effective operations.
    • Conducting training sessions on laundry procedures, safety protocols, and equipment operation
  • Managing Laundry Operations:
    • Overseeing the washing, drying, and ironing of linens, towels, and uniforms.
    • Ensuring that all laundry items meet the hotel's cleanliness and quality standards
  • Inventory Management:
    • Monitoring and maintaining inventory levels of cleaning supplies, linens, and uniforms.
    • Conducting regular inventory checks and ordering supplies as needed
  • Quality Control:
    • Inspecting laundered items for damage or stains and ensuring they are properly cleaned and presented.
    • Implementing measures to minimize wastage and improve efficiency
  • Equipment Maintenance:
    • Ensuring that all laundry equipment is in good working condition.
    • Coordinating with the maintenance team for repairs and preventive maintenance
  • Handling Guest Requests and Complaints:
    • Addressing guest inquiries and complaints related to laundry services promptly and professionally.
    • Ensuring that special requests, such as express laundry services, are fulfilled
  • Administrative Tasks:
    • Maintaining accurate records of laundry activities, including usage of supplies and equipment maintenance.
    • Preparing reports on laundry operations and expenses for management review
  • Ensuring Compliance with Health and Safety Standards:
    • Implementing and maintaining health and safety standards within the laundry department.
    • Conducting regular safety training sessions for the laundry staff

Skills And Qualities Needed

    • Ensuring that all laundry items are impeccably clean and well-presented

    • Managing multiple tasks and maintaining detailed records efficiently

    • Communicating effectively with staff, guests, and other departments

    • Addressing and resolving issues promptly and effectively
Desired candidate profile

Bachelor's degree, higher education qualification or equivalent in Hotel Administration / Business Administration
Two to Three years' prior tenure in a similar role
International luxury hotel chain background
GCC exposure
English Fluency is required
Arabic Fluency is preferred
Operational Management
Supervise Laundry Operations: Oversee the daily operations of the laundry department, ensuring all laundry items (e.g., linens, towels, uniforms) are cleaned, processed, and delivered according to company standards.
Workflow Coordination: Manage the scheduling of laundry duties to ensure efficient flow, prioritizing tasks based on urgency and volume.
Equipment Management: Oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of laundry equipment (washing machines, dryers, irons, etc.) and ensure that it is running efficiently.
Stock Management: Ensure that sufficient stock of cleaning supplies, detergents, and linen inventory are available and ordered as necessary.
Team Leadership
Supervise Laundry Staff: Lead a team of laundry attendants and support staff, providing direction, training, and motivation.
Training and Development: Train new staff on proper laundry procedures, machine operation, safety protocols, and quality standards.
Performance Monitoring: Monitor staff performance, conduct regular evaluations, and provide feedback to ensure high levels of productivity and service quality.
Staff Scheduling: Create and manage work schedules, ensuring adequate coverage based on workload and shift requirements.
Quality Control and Standards
Maintain High Standards of Cleanliness: Ensure that laundry items are cleaned, dried, and pressed to meet the quality standards of the company, paying attention to details such as stain removal and fabric care.
Inspect Laundry: Inspect cleaned linens and garments for damage or issues, and take corrective action as needed.
Ensure Compliance: Ensure that all laundry processes comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations (e.g., OSHA, local health codes), including the proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
