Roles and responsibilities

Expertise in data analysis techniques, including data profiling, discovery, root cause analysis, and data quality assessment
Collaborate effectively with business leaders to capture high-level business needs, documenting outcomes and decisions based on established standards and methodologies
Engage with a diverse team of professionals like business architects, data scientists, and visualization experts to deliver comprehensive analytical solutions
Identify and resolve underlying causes of poor data quality, providing constructive feedback to relevant teams. Implement data quality corrections and propose enhancements
Ability to help with monitor key performance indicators, respond to alerts from various sectors, and proactively address data-related issues. Ability to help with perform audits to ensure compliance with data protection standards, particularly in personal data handling, in line with NDMO regulations
Execute necessary Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA)
Communicate effectively with stakeholders and data handlers, offering timely advice and proposals for rapid adjustments in various scenarios
Data Quality Management
Monitor and enforce data quality standards to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness of data across all systems.
Identify and resolve data quality issues, such as duplicates, missing information, or incorrect entries.
Collaborate with data owners and other stakeholders to ensure that data is collected, entered, and maintained correctly.
Perform regular audits and assessments of data to maintain its quality throughout its lifecycle.
Data Governance and Compliance
Implement and maintain data governance policies and procedures, ensuring they are in line with industry best practices and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
Ensure that data management practices comply with relevant data privacy, security, and compliance regulations.
Define and document data stewardship processes, roles, and responsibilities within the organization.
Work with compliance teams to ensure that data access and usage meet legal and organizational standards.

Desired candidate profile

Bachelor's degree in Coputer Science, Data Management, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in data management, data governance, or a related field
Strong understanding of data governance frameworks and best practices
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration across teams
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and effectively prioritize tasks
Data Classification and Metadata Management
Ensure data is accurately classified according to its type, sensitivity, and intended use.
Oversee the development and management of metadata to ensure data is easily discoverable, understandable, and usable.
Implement tools and processes for maintaining metadata repositories, making sure they are accurate and up-to-date.
Data Lifecycle Management
Support the management of data throughout its lifecycle—from creation and storage to archival and eventual disposal.
Monitor the flow of data through systems and ensure data is properly managed, maintained, and archived based on its lifecycle stage.
Collaborate with IT and business units to define data retention policies and practices that align with business needs and compliance requirements.
