Directing daily engineering needs to ensure the right team is always on the right task
Creating a safe, secure and comfortable environment for our guests to enjoy
Maintaining and ordering parts and supplies whilst minimising waste and meeting

our green initiatives

Being flexible to react to ad-hoc duties where we have to unexpectedly pull together to get a task completed
Building strong relationships with outside contacts including guests, regulatory agencies, others as needed

Guest Experience

Help guests needs to ensure their satisfaction
Use a maintenance programme to ensure the hotel is maintained and in service for our guests

1. Support Engineering Operations:
Assist in Managing Maintenance: Work alongside the Chief Engineer in overseeing the maintenance of the building's systems, such as HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning), electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
Supervise Technicians: Lead and coordinate a team of engineers, technicians, and maintenance staff to ensure timely and effective resolution of technical issues.
Monitor Systems: Help manage the monitoring and troubleshooting of systems to ensure they are functioning properly and efficiently.
2. Facility Maintenance and Repairs:
Oversee Preventive Maintenance: Ensure that preventive maintenance schedules are adhered to, minimizing downtime and prolonging the life of equipment and systems.
Coordinate Repairs: Manage or assist in the repair and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other facility-related systems.
Emergency Response: Support the Chief Engineer in addressing emergency maintenance issues, ensuring quick and effective problem-solving during critical system failures.
3. Team Management and Leadership:
Supervise Maintenance Teams: Assist in the supervision of day-to-day activities of engineers and maintenance personnel, providing guidance, coaching, and performance management.
Schedule and Delegate Tasks: Coordinate maintenance schedules, assigning tasks to technicians based on priority, ensuring the workload is evenly distributed and timelines are met.
Training and Development: Support the development of training programs for staff, ensuring that they are up-to-date with the latest technology and safety standards.
4. Budgeting and Resource Management:
Assist with Budget Management: Help the Chief Engineer in managing the department's budget, tracking expenditures, and ensuring cost-effective operations.
Inventory Control: Ensure the proper inventory of materials, tools, and equipment needed for maintenance and repair tasks. Assist in ordering supplies and materials when required.
Cost Optimization: Look for ways to reduce costs in maintenance operations while maintaining quality standards.
5. Compliance and Safety:
Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all engineering operations comply with local regulations, health, safety, and environmental standards.
Health and Safety Oversight: Monitor safety procedures and ensure that all engineering personnel adhere to safe work practices, reducing the risk of accidents and injuries.
Risk Management: Assist in conducting risk assessments, ensuring that potential hazards related to building systems are mitigated.

Desired candidate profile

Oversee the physical operations of the hotel, including maintenance and repair and order parts and supplies in a timely and efficient manner while minimising waste and maintaining "green" initiatives
May be responsible for hotel security to minimise risk of theft, crime and other hazards
Ad-hoc duties – unexpected moments when we have to pull together to get a task done
1. Technical Knowledge:
Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems.
Familiarity with building management systems (BMS) and other facility maintenance software.
Expertise in HVAC, energy management, and safety systems is often required.
2. Leadership Skills:
Ability to manage and supervise a diverse team of technicians and engineers.
Strong decision-making, delegation, and conflict resolution skills.
Ability to motivate and guide a team to meet performance objectives and deadlines.
3. Problem-Solving Skills:
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve system issues efficiently.
Ability to think critically under pressure and manage emergency maintenance issues.
4. Project Management Abilities:
Familiarity with project management principles and the ability to oversee engineering projects from start to finish.
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and projects at once, ensuring deadlines and budgets are adhered to.
5. Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with team members, contractors, suppliers, and management.
Ability to prepare reports, present findings, and communicate technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
6. Time Management:
Strong time management skills to prioritize tasks, delegate effectively, and meet deadlines, particularly in high-pressure situations.
