Our client, an international mining house, is seeking a Director: Technology Innovation who will be successful at building innovative technological capabilities and organizations as well as optimizing existing structures, evolving them through the different business cycles. The incumbent will be a collaborative leader who works in conjunction with business executives to define long and short-term strategies to achieve bottom line results. The ideal incumbent will be a data and analytics evangelist focused on driving cultural change in a non-traditionally data focused industry in a global setting.
**Responsibilities**:
- Responsible for the Advanced Analytics and AI program lifecycle within Vale, a cornerstone of the Global Digital Transformation Program
- Identifying programmatic value opportunities and gaining endorsement for structured global approaches for advanced analytics
- Establish data and analytic capability, capacity and governance in operations, focusing on rapid value recognition through agile mindset, expert capability and innovative approaches.
- Responsible for 10-15 M budget, 35 full time resources, +100 partner resources globally
- Responsible for delivering high value, cost effective solutions to Base Metals operation and Global Operations cross functional areas.
- Identify opportunities across the value chain where information technology can decrease costs, increase productivity and improve safety
- Managed portfolio of over 60 projects with a global team of 35 full time, 20+ contractors and budget $US10 Million+
- Manage and mentor organization consisting of 92 full time and 50 contract employees globally
- Overall responsibility for all aspects of management information services at BMO Mutual Funds a $12B financial services group
- All data mining, data modelling and data analysis exercises as required by Sales, Marketing, Product and Executive groups
**Requirements**:Qualification and Skill**_ _**
- Master’s degree in Science or Engineering or related field
- 15+ years of experience with minimum of five (5) years in technology and innovation management across mining and metals
- Knowledge, industry relationships and a high degree of technical and technology competence as well as business and management experience in the mining and metals space
- Broad knowledge of Engineering, Operations, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing and process methods, and organizational structure
- Extensive knowledge of current and emerging technologies in the mining and metals arena
