The Maintenance Officer will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring the effective maintenance and servicing of the company’s vehicle fleet, which includes trucks, cars, and other company vehicles. This role involves coordinating regular inspections, repairs, and servicing schedules to guarantee the fleet’s operational efficiency, safety, and compliance with regulatory standards.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**1. Vehicle Maintenance Management**:
- Develop and implement a preventive maintenance plan for all company vehicles, including trucks, cars, and other transport vehicles.
- Schedule and oversee regular vehicle inspections, maintenance, and servicing to ensure they are in optimal working condition.
- Coordinate with internal drivers and external vendors for repairs and maintenance.
**2. Repairs & Troubleshooting**:
- Identify and diagnose vehicle mechanical or operational issues and ensure timely repairs.
- Maintain relationships with garages and mechanics to ensure cost-effective and high-quality repair services.
- Respond promptly to breakdowns, accidents, and other vehicle-related emergencies.
**3. Fleet Monitoring & Reporting**:
- Keep detailed records of vehicle maintenance, repairs, and servicing schedules.
- Monitor vehicle usage, wear and tear, and ensure that vehicles are compliant with safety regulations.
- Provide regular reports on the condition of vehicles, maintenance costs, and performance.
**4. Inventory & Spare Parts Management**:
- Manage inventory for vehicle parts, tires, and consumables, ensuring adequate stock levels.
- Oversee the purchase of parts and equipment, ensuring the quality and cost-effectiveness of purchases.
**5. Regulatory Compliance**:
- Ensure all vehicles comply with local laws and regulations, including licensing, inspection, and insurance requirements.
- Conduct safety checks and ensure that vehicles meet company and legal safety standards.
**6. Collaboration & Communication**:
- Work closely with the Vehicle Fleet Coordinator, drivers, and external vendors to ensure smooth maintenance operations.
- Liaise with the Operations Manager to provide feedback on fleet performance and suggest improvements to reduce downtime.
**7. Record-Keeping & Documentation**:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of vehicle servicing, repairs, fuel consumption, and maintenance costs.
- Ensure that documentation is prepared for audits or inspections.
- Qualifications:_
- Proven experience in vehicle maintenance and fleet management.
- Strong knowledge of automotive systems, repairs, and diagnostic equipment.
- Familiarity with trucks, cars, and other types of commercial vehicles.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Intermediate English skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle emergencies.
- Basic computer skills for record-keeping and reporting.
- Knowledge of local regulatory requirements for vehicle safety and maintenance.
