Government Relations Officer

**Job Overview**:
As a Government Relations Officer (GRO), you will be responsible for managing the company’s relationships with local government authorities, ensuring compliance with regulations, handling permits, visas, and various legal requirements. The GRO will assist the organization in understanding and navigating local laws and regulations to ensure smooth business operations within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Daily Responsibilities**:
- Government Liaison:
- Act as the primary contact for government departments and officials on behalf of the organization.
- Respond promptly to government-related inquiries and requests.
- Maintain communication with relevant authorities for permits, licenses, and legal requirements.
- Visa & Work Permit Management:
- Oversee the processing of work visas, residence permits, and Iqama renewals for expatriate employees.
- Compliance Monitoring:
- Monitor regulatory updates from the government to ensure the organization complies with the latest laws and policies.
- Ensure that all company activities are aligned with the legal requirements of the Kingdom.
- Document Processing & Legal Filings:
- Prepare and submit necessary documents for government-related matters, such as labor office filings, ministry approvals, and legal paperwork.
- Coordinate with various government bodies, including the Ministry of Labor, Ministry of Interior, and Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA).
**Weekly Responsibilities**:
- Regulatory Updates:
- Review and disseminate weekly updates regarding new laws, regulations, or procedures issued by the government.
- Ensure all departments are informed of changes to government regulations that may affect their operations.
- Reporting:
- Prepare and submit weekly reports on government-related activities and the status of visa/work permit processing.
- Ensure documentation for audits or government inspections is organized and complete.
- Coordination with HR & Legal Departments:
- Collaborate with HR to ensure employee records are up to date for government filings and compliance.
- Work closely with the legal team to ensure the organization’s activities are in line with Saudi regulations.
- Visa/Permit Tracking:
- Track and ensure that the company’s employee visas, work permits, and other essential documents are renewed in a timely manner.
**Monthly Responsibilities**:
- Government Reporting & Compliance Audits:
- Compile and submit reports to government authorities as required, such as annual workforce reports, Nitaqat compliance, and other regulatory submissions.
- Conduct a monthly audit of the company’s compliance with labor laws and other relevant regulations.
- Employee Engagement & Support:
- Assist expatriate employees with inquiries regarding Iqama renewals, visa statuses, and other government-related issues.
- Provide monthly updates to management on any pending legal matters, visa issues, or government relations matters.
- Training & Policy Updates:
- Provide training or briefings to the company’s employees on changes in regulations or government policies that could impact their work.
- Work with the management team to update internal policies based on any changes in government laws or regulations.
- Relationship Management:
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with key government contacts.
- Attend meetings, events, and seminars hosted by government entities that are relevant to the organization’s operations.
**Qualifications**:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Law, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in government relations or legal compliance within Saudi Arabia.
- In-depth knowledge of Saudi labor laws, immigration regulations, and business compliance requirements.
- Strong communication skills in both Arabic and English (written and spoken).
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- **Technical Skills**:
- Proficiency in Communication tools - Zoom, Teams, Slack,
- Productivity Tools - googledrive, MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
