Overview / Responsibilities: Wood is currently recruiting for a principal Electrical Engineer for the role of Head of Department for electrical engineering department with extensive experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry. This is a corporate role looking after an engineering discipline and will report directly to Engineering Manager. **OVERVIEW / RESPONSIBILITIES** - Manages all administrative activities for his engineering department. - Providing technical expertise to support and lead complex projects at a technical level as well - Handle portfolio of smaller projects as lead with junior engineers - Responsible for resource planning, recruiting, idle hours management and vacations - Responsible for improving and supporting localization / saudization in terms of head count as well as in terms of technical skill enhancement of locals - Responsible for competency assessment of existing employees and planning for future trainings and skill growth areas for department - Responsible for performance appraisals, promotions and salary upgrade recommendations - Assigns resources for new projects including Lead engineers - Supports less experience engineers and lead engineers - Man-hour estimation for new proposals and providing technical execution plan - Performs technical audits for projects for discipline - Liase with other Wood office across the globe for discipline level support - Future skills review and capability development plans preparation for future growth support Skills / Qualifications: **Experience** - Minimum 20 years of experience required in Electrical engineering **Degrees/Certification** - Bachelors of engineering in Electrical (mandatory) - Masters or PHD in relevant field is recommended - Charted or Profession engineering in recommended **Mandatory Skill set** - Power system analysis via ETAP (mandatory) - PLS-CADD for Overhead transmission lines (mandatory) - High voltage design (mandatory) **Recommended/Optional Skill sets** - Harmonic analysis - Transient Recovery Voltage (TRV) Study - Modular substation design - Smart Plant Electrical/3D - Cathodic protection design - Load shedding and Reacceleration - Air (AIS) and Gas (GIS) insulated substations - Arc flash study - Solar / Photvoltaic power - Substation ground potential studies - Induction motors > 500 HP - Fire detectors - Fiber optic cable **Standards awareness** - SEEC requirements - Saudi Electric company agreements - Aramco standards - NEC requirements - IEEE requirements Company Overview: Diversity Statement: We are an equal opportunity employer that recognises the value of a diverse workforce.
