**Key Accountabilities and Activities**:

- Oversee the design and delivery of a comprehensive environmental permitting and compliance governance system, including the development and finalization of laws, regulations and policies
- Work with the Department functions and with Legal Affairs to develop and finalize the environmental regulations and sub-instruments for permitting and compliance
- Support the development and implementation of environmental permitting and compliance processes, procedures and systems
- Identify gaps and opportunities to improve the environmental permitting and compliance processes, procedures and systems
- Contribute to the sound financial management of the permitting and compliance division (i.e. budgeting, accruals, reforecasting, etc.)
- Support implementation of the Environment Department Strategy and Operating Model and lead any strategic planning activities or initiatives related to environmental permitting and compliance

**Essential skills**:

- Bachelor Degree in environmental sciences or engineering
- International or GCC driving license
- 15 years experience in environmental management with specific experience in permitting and/or compliance
- 5 years managerial experience
- Experience with the development and implementation of policy and regulatory requirements
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks for permitting and compliance
- Experience working in government organisations
