Founded in 1997, Absolute Taste is an independently owned and worldwide renowned leading catering and hospitality company. With over 20yrs of experience in Europe we are now established in The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with fixed contracts and events in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Al Ula.
Job Purpose:
The Sous Chef is responsible to ensure that food is prepared and presented in accordance with the established standards of the company, food costs are maintained, waste minimized, and a high degree of cleanliness exists throughout the kitchen areas.
Duties and responsibilities
- To ensure the delivery of the Absolute Taste expectations in food quality. Always ensuring we deliver on our promise to keep food at the heart of everything we do.
- Work closely with the head chef taking a “hands-on” approach in assisting with, monitoring and overseeing all production, stock and operational kitchen related concerns.
- To lead the team in a proactive and motivational manner in the head chef’s absence.
- Work with the Head Chef and Executive Chef in assessing, negotiating and working with suppliers, to ensure Absolute Taste receives the best quality produce and the best market price. Carry out all food procurement, stock inwards, stock management and minimise wastage
- Manage Absolute Taste kitchen production ensuring quality and consistency every time, in line with the company guidelines.
- Manage and exercise company Food Safety and Health and Safety policies
- Manage staffing rotas, hours, holidays, lieu days and cover using the Fourth hospitality system in the absence of the head chef.
- Assist in training, development and assessment of kitchen team.
- To assist in the control and minimisation of all kitchen associated costs without detriment to the business or service.
- Ensure the kitchen operates efficiently and budgets are managed successfully.
- Brief the teams to ensure good communication and information is cascaded successfully.
Qualifications and Skills
Must be attentive to details and strong in time management and communication skills.
Passionate about great food with exceptional attention to detail.
Be inspired to create innovative delicious homemade food. A real forward thinker, being aware of market trends.
Able to work under pressure within a busy kitchen environment
Have great leadership skills, leading by example.
Experience in events or banqueting preferred.
