WSP Middle East is seeking an Intermediate Civil Designer with a minimum of 10 years of experience in design/drafting of power grid infrastructures as well as experience in BIM to join our team. We are looking for someone who is technically proficient, takes initiative, is a team player, and is looking for a challenge.

The position is to support the engineering team of Client Energy greenfield projects, related to the Civil and structural design and drafting of diverse assets of Client Energy buildings and structures above and below ground and including overhead transmission lines and cable culverts and basement areas.

**Your new role, what's involved?**
- Performs civil design using knowledge of relevant software programs primarily AutoCAD Civil3D including underground utilities, overhead power lines, substations, and power plants.
- Assists in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
- Performs calculations to analyze and design civil components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
- Supports project team in development of design documentation, plans and reports for relevant project design elements.
- Works with other engineering disciplines and professionals in the completion of the project under the direction of a project coordinator or project manager.
- Assists with engineering duties on projects of various complexity and size, including site visits and basic surveying works as needed.
- Assists with collecting data and gathering information to support design decisions.
- Assists in basic interpretation and verifying compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices.
- Performs a variety of tasks which may include analyzing proposed project solutions to ensure design integrity, reliability, resource efficiently and cost effectiveness.
- Assists in the preparation of engineering project documents, client contact and communication pertaining to specific projects.
- Prepares site assessments, facilitates permitting processes.
- Support and train other team members in day-to-day activities including routine technical design, processing, and company procedures.

**We'd love to hear from you if you have**:

- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or similar.
- A minimum of relevant experience of 12 years
- Experience in transmission (HV power) substations layout and civil design/drafting and power plant design layout serving SEC/National Grid and/or other utilities in Middle East.
- Experience in power plant design layout serving SEC/National Grid and/or other utilities in Middle East.
- Experience in, and an understanding of, the development of GIS (primary requirement) and BIM systems (secondary requirement) on large multi-disciplinary aspect of power grid asset projects.
- Requires understanding and proficiency of AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D.
- Knowledge of Engineering/Design Standards and Codes
- Understanding of concepts of relevant areas of civil engineering design.
- Basic understanding of topographic or construction layout surveying.
- Ability to create and interpret sketches, drawings, and various elements
- Able to collaborate and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Dedicated team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to deal with multiple tasks and manage time appropriately.
- Strong organizational skills, along with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and demonstrate a flexible approach to work assignments.
- Experience and a willingness to undertake quality control of drawing packages to support the principal engineer.
- Excellent oral, written, and graphic communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Takes initiative on tasks and coordinates with other members of the design team
- Fluent in English with writing, oral and speaking.
