**Responsibilities**:

- Develop and maintain safety policies and procedures in compliance with applicable regulations and industry best practices.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Implement safety training programs to educate employees on safe work practices and emergency procedures.
- Investigate accidents and near misses, identify root causes, and develop strategies to prevent recurrence.
- Manage and maintain safety records, incident reports, and documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement safety initiatives and promote a culture of safety.
- Stay up-to-date with safety regulations, industry trends, and emerging best practices.
- Monitoring the procurement, use, and disposal of chemicals used in the lab.
- Ensuring that appropriate self-inspections are maintained.
- Providing input to PI's/Supervisors on developing precautions and adequate facilities.
- Knowing the current legal requirements concerning regulated substances.
- Seeking ways to improve the chemical hygiene program
- Follow up with the MOH for continuous surveillance updates.
- Conduct regular drills with the civil defence.

In addition, the safety officer is part of the lab's quality team and is responsible for improving the lab's safety culture using education, training, and coaching, as well as completing routine tasks that help ensure safety and compliance

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Professional certification in Safety, such as CSP, CIH, or NEBOSH, is preferred.
- 2-5 years of experience in safety management, preferably in a healthcare or laboratory setting.
- Knowledge of local and international safety regulations and standards such as (CBAHI) and International standards(JCI&CAP).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
