**Job Description: Plumbing Design Engineer**
**Position Overview**:
The Plumbing Design Engineer in the MEP field is responsible for designing, developing, and coordinating plumbing systems for construction projects. These systems include water supply, drainage, storm water, and fire protection. The role requires effective collaboration with stakeholders to ensure compliance with local and international standards, efficient designs, and timely project delivery.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**1. Design and Development**:

- Create detailed designs for plumbing systems, including water supply, drainage, storm water, and fire protection systems.
- Develop schematics, floor plans, sections, equipment schedules, and specifications using CAD and Revit software.
- Perform calculations for water demand, pipe sizing, pump head and flow, water tank sizing, drainage slope, sump pit sizing, and storm water requirements.
- Implement BIM technology to deliver high-quality, coordinated models and drawings.
- Collaborate with architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical teams to integrate plumbing systems effectively.
- Stay updated on codes of practice, regulations, and authority approval procedures.

**2. Space Planning and Layout Preparation**:

- Plan efficient routing and placement of plumbing equipment with proper access.
- Develop typical sections for corridor arrangements and critical areas.
- Ensure compatibility with other services, including structural elements and false ceilings.

**3. BIM Modelling and Coordination**:

- Prepare coordinated plumbing services drawings and BIM models to levels of detail (LOD) 200 to 500.
- Conduct clash detection and resolution using Navisworks to ensure seamless integration with other disciplines.
- Extract shop drawings and detailed layouts from BIM models.
- Raise RFIs for architectural and structural issues related to plumbing systems.

**4. Project Management and Coordination**:

- Manage multiple projects, ensuring quality deliverables and adherence to timelines.
- Work closely with clients, and modelling teams to meet design specifications and project requirements.
- Facilitate smooth coordination between all MEP disciplines and external stakeholders.

**5. Compliance and Sustainability**:

- Ensure plumbing designs meet local, national, and international codes (e.g., IPC, UPC, NFPA), especially for the Gulf region.
- Incorporate sustainable practices, including rainwater harvesting and greywater recycling.

**6. Documentation and Reporting**:

- Maintain trackers for RFIs, comments, and design changes.
- Prepare builder’s work drawings and Navisworks clash-free reports in required formats (NWC, NWF & NWD).
- Create and manage equipment selection data aligned with space planning.

**Skills and Qualifications**:
**Technical Skills**:

- Proficiency in CAD and BIM software (AutoCAD, Revit MEP).
- Expertise in clash detection and resolution using Navisworks.
- Familiarity with plumbing codes (e.g., IPC, UPC, NFPA) and design standards.
- Strong knowledge of drainage systems, water demand calculations, and fire protection system design.

**Professional Experience**:

- Minimum 6years of experience in plumbing design and implementation in the MEP sector.
- Proven ability to manage commercial, residential, and industrial projects.

**Soft Skills**:

- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
