Job Description
**The role**
**What You Will Be Responsible For**
As an Antitrust Lawyer based in Riyadh, you will be working across a wide range of sectors including technology, consumer goods and retail, financial services, energy and infrastructure, transport, telecommunications, and media. You will advise on a range of matters, including:
- Merger control: merger control analysis and preparing merger filings to the Saudi General Authority of Competition in connection with both local transactions and as part of multi-jurisdictional filing programmes.
- Coordinating international filings that are required as a result of local transactions in Saudi Arabia.
- Working with the global antitrust team on developing international best practice and knowhow.
- Market investigations/sector inquiries.
- Cartel and abuse of dominance investigations.
- Cooperation, distribution, and licensing arrangements.
- Developing relationships with clients and actively engaging in business development and thought leadership initiatives.
- Developing knowledge and expertise of antitrust matters in the corporate team more generally, including delivering training to colleagues.
**Key Attractions**
- We are committed to working with clients as integrated team members - which means that, from day one, our lawyers have hands-on client contact.
- We are proud of our reputation for being a friendly, supportive, meritocratic and diverse group and reinforce this with regular social events - both ad hoc and organized.
- We run a sophisticated global training programme including local monthly courses run by The Academy.
- Our remuneration package is one of the most attractive in the market.
**Who You Will Work With**
The work covered by our Antitrust Group includes advice on a broad range of antitrust and sector-specific regulatory matters, often with a cross-border dimension. Our Antitrust and Regulatory lawyers work on behalf of our clients on market/sector investigations, enforcement matters, and mergers requiring clearance from competition and other regulatory authorities. We advise on market-leading mandates across the full range of contentious and non-contentious domestic and cross-border antitrust matters. Our global team obtains clearances for our clients in the world's most challenging merger control proceedings, acts on the most significant dominance cases, and represents clients on complex multi-jurisdictional cartels. We also help our clients avoid antitrust issues by developing and implementing sophisticated compliance programs.
**Qualifications**:
**Your experience**
- You will have strong proven working knowledge across all areas of competition law, sector-specific regulation, and public policy as a mid-level lawyer, probably gained at a city firm, or at an overseas common law practice with a highly regarded profile.
- You will naturally be able to demonstrate excellent document drafting skills. You should demonstrate strong communication and analytical skills along with a high level of commercial awareness.
- You will need to demonstrate that you can thrive in a team with high professional standards and a flexible client-friendly commercial approach.
- You will have had strong exposure to collaborating with multi-jurisdictional and multi-disciplinary teams.
- It is crucial that you can demonstrate an appetite for business development, client relationship management, and thought leadership.
- You will have strong legal skills with the ability to provide commercial solutions.
- Good transactional and management skills.
- Experience of taking a leading role in advising clients, supervising junior Lawyers/ trainees and completing transactions.
- You will enjoy working in a busy and supportive team, supervising others and liaising with Lawyers in other practice areas and/or offices in the firm.
