**JOB SUMMARY**

The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing and the reporting of financial information for an organization, including reporting of financial and management accounting. The Senior Accountant will manage a set of accounting activities to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, corporate policies and external audits. This person will manage the finance and accounts function, payroll function, monthly closing of accounts and preparation of reports in support of the financial statements.

**TASKS**

- Supervising accounting staff

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Manage the monthly financial close process, including ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded, reviewing journal entries, account balance reconciliations and report preparation.
- Participate in the ongoing development/establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies including the review and implementation of process and system changes.
- Continued focus on improving system efficiencies and business practices.
- Participate in strategic financial projects including upgrades/phase-two implementation of ERP software.
- Ensure compliance with internal control policies in a legal financial environment.
- Collaborate with external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance.
- Interacts at all levels and with budget owners or other stakeholders to produce timely, efficient and accurate month-end close and all internal management and financial reporting through annual report.
- Responsible for hierarchy and scalability in chart of accounts and accuracy in the general ledger and financial statements and has ultimate authority over classification and booking of all transactions.
- Make recommendations for changes as needed and ensure that company policies and procedures are followed and establishes the proper techniques to discover and prevent fraud.
- Prepare detailed journal entries and account analyses.
- Assist with compilation of information for preparation of VAT/ZAKAT returns.
- Work with Audit, Tax and Treasury Manager to ensure overall coordination of all financial accounting activities through annual report.
- Prepare summary feedback of financial statements variances to budget.
- Actively review and advise on financial/accounting processes.
- Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
- Examining bank statements and reconciling them with general ledger entries.
- Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs.
- Examining expenses, incoming payments from accounts receivable and outgoing payments from accounts payable.

**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, OTHER CHARACTERISTICS**

**Knowledge of**: financial budgeting and forecasting, deep understanding of full life-cycle accounting, IFRS, GAAP reporting, accounting principles, handling receivables/payments, organizational knowledge, financial principles and processes.

**Language skills**: Proficiency in English both written and verbal, ability to converse in Arabic would be an added advantage.

**Computer Skills**: Exceptional computer skills and highly proficient in the use of Ms Excel, Ms Office, Ms Outlook, and PowerPoint. Highly proficient in the use of ERP/Financial systems.

**Ability to**: process improvements, maintain accuracy, multitask, collaborate with different stake holders, manage interpersonal communication, manage time effectively, handle dispute and grievances.

**Experience**:At least 5 years of working experience in an accounting position.
