**Key responsibilities**:Infrastructure Design & Deployment**:

- Architect and manage private cloud environments such as such as VMware vSphere, VMware Cloud Director, or OpenStack.
- Optimize compute, storage, and networking resources.
- Implement high-availability and disaster recovery solutions.

**Virtualization & Resource Management**:

- Manage virtualized infrastructure and resource allocation.
- Automate provisioning and lifecycle management with tools like Ansible, Terraform, or PowerCLI.

**Service Operations & Management**:

- Oversee private cloud operations, performance, and uptime.
- Maintain VCD stack with upgrades, patches, and backups.
- Establish monitoring systems and ensure data protection.

**Infrastructure Monitoring & Optimization**:

- Monitor system health and resolve performance/scalability issues.
- Conduct capacity planning and recommend upgrades.

**Security & Compliance**:

- Implement security best practices and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, ISO 27001).
- Manage identity, access, and network security policies.

**Automation & Continuous Improvement**:

- Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automate deployments.
- Create self-service portals for resource provisioning.
- Recommend improvements based on emerging technologies.

**Collaboration & Documentation**:

- Collaborate with DevOps, security, and development teams.
- Document cloud configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical support.

**Requirements**:

- Technical Expertise:

- Proficiency in virtualization platforms like VMware vSphere, VMware Cloud Director, or OpenStack.
- Strong understanding of storage solutions (e.g., SAN, NAS, vSAN) and networking concepts (e.g., VLANs, firewalls, routing, and load balancing).
- Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or PowerCLI.
- Hands-on experience with private cloud monitoring tools (e.g., vRealize Operations, Prometheus, or Nagios).
- Experience:

- 5+ years of experience in private cloud infrastructure engineering or similar roles.
- Proven track record of managing large-scale private cloud environments.
**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Experience with hybrid cloud solutions and multi-cloud integration.
- Knowledge of Kubernetes and container orchestration platforms.
- Certifications such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), or Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate.
- Familiarity with ITIL practices for service management.
