Roles and responsibilities

1. Teaching and Instruction

  • Course Design and Delivery: Develop and teach undergraduate and/or graduate-level courses in various pharmacy-related topics such as pharmacology, pharmaceutics, pharmaceutical chemistry, clinical pharmacy, drug therapy management, and pharmacy practice.
  • Classroom and Clinical Teaching: Deliver lectures, seminars, case studies, and practical lab sessions. Supervise and mentor students during their clinical placements, ensuring that students gain practical skills in real-world pharmacy settings.
  • Curriculum Development: Contribute to the development, revision, and assessment of the pharmacy curriculum. Ensure courses reflect the latest research, technological advances, and regulatory changes in pharmacy practice.
  • Student Mentoring and Advising: Provide academic advising, mentorship, and career guidance to pharmacy students. Help students navigate their coursework, clinical placements, and professional development.
  • Assessment of Student Performance: Design and evaluate assignments, exams, practical evaluations, and projects. Provide timely and constructive feedback to help students improve their knowledge and skills.

2. Research and Scholarship

  • Conduct Independent Research: Lead and engage in high-level research within the field of pharmacy, such as pharmacological research, drug development, pharmaceutical sciences, drug safety, or healthcare systems. Research may also focus on pharmacy education and innovations in practice.
  • Collaborative Research: Participate in interdisciplinary research projects with colleagues, healthcare professionals, or pharmaceutical companies. Build collaborations to enhance the research impact.
  • Publish Research Findings: Publish research outcomes in peer-reviewed pharmacy and healthcare journals. Present findings at national and international conferences to contribute to the scientific community and promote the department's research.
  • Research Funding: Apply for competitive research grants from government agencies, pharmaceutical organizations, or private institutions. Assist in obtaining funding for collaborative research projects.
  • Supervise Graduate Research: Supervise graduate and doctoral students in their research projects, guiding them through the design, methodology, and of their thesis or dissertation research.
Desired candidate profile

Pharmacy Knowledge and Expertise: In-depth understanding of pharmacy practice, pharmacology, pharmaceutics, drug therapy management, and patient care. Expertise in emerging areas of pharmacy research is a plus.
Teaching and Mentoring: Proven ability to teach effectively, with experience in designing and delivering pharmacy-related courses. Skilled in mentoring and advising students at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
Research and Analytical Skills: Strong background in research design, methodology, data analysis, and publication. Ability to mentor graduate students and junior faculty in research activities.
Leadership and Collaboration: Ability to provide leadership within the department, mentor faculty, and collaborate with colleagues from various disciplines.
Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Ability to present complex concepts clearly to students, colleagues, and professional organizations.
Problem Solving and Critical Thinking: Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, both in academic and clinical contexts. Ability to address challenges in pharmacy education, practice, and research.
