Power System Planning Engineer

Job Description:


• Proven experience in distribution and transmission network expansion planning (13.8 kV–380 kV),

including long-term master plans and capacity reinforcement strategies.


• Strong capability in load forecasting, demand growth modelling, and scenario planning.


• Proficient in load flow, short-circuit, N-1 contingency, voltage, and stability studies.


• Advanced skills in network modeling using ETAP, DIgSILENT, PSCAD or PSS/E.


• Experience preparing system impact studies, customer connection assessments, and defining optimal

Points of Connection.


• Solid background in substation planning: transformer sizing, busbar configuration, breaker

requirements, and future expansion provisions.


• Strong competence in cable/overhead line planning: sizing, ampacity, trench utilization, route

optimization, and loss evaluations.


• Knowledge of DER integration: PV/BESS hosting capacity, reverse power flow assessments, and

protection coordination implications.


• Familiarity with utility planning standards (IEEE/IEC) and local regulations such SERA and MoE.


• Practical experience in a regulated utility environment, coordinating with operations, protection,

asset management, and customer teams.


• Ability to perform techno-economic evaluations, CAPEX optimization, and cost–reliability tradeoffs

for expansion options.


• Strong reporting skills: planning studies, feasibility reports, investment proposals, and management

presentations.


• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, EPCs, consultants, and regulatory

bodies.

Qualifications & Experience Required :


• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.


• 10+ years of experience in utility or consultancy roles focused on power systems

planning
