Job Summary:

A Material Man is responsible for receiving, storing, issuing, and controlling construction and maintenance materials, tools, and equipment. The role ensures that all materials are handled safely, accurately recorded, and delivered to job sites in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive, inspect, and verify materials and supplies upon delivery.
  • Store materials in designated areas ensuring proper labeling and organization.
  • Issue materials, tools, and equipment as requested by site teams.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and update stock levels regularly.
  • Coordinate with procurement and logistics for material replenishment.
  • Conduct periodic inventory checks and report discrepancies.
  • Ensure all materials are handled safely and stored according to company standards.
  • Keep the storage area clean, secure, and well-organized.

Qualifications / Skills:

  • Proven experience in material handling, warehousing, or storekeeping.
  • Knowledge of inventory control systems and basic computer skills.
  • Ability to read and understand material requisitions and delivery documents.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Physical ability to lift and move materials as required.
  • Commitment to safety and proper use of PPE.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is primarily at construction or maintenance sites.
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, and standing for extended periods.
  • Exposure to outdoor conditions, dust, and noise.
  • May require overtime depending on project needs.
Skills

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of material handling and inventory control.
  • Ability to receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials accurately.
  • Proficiency in using inventory management systems or basic computer software (Excel, ERP, etc.).
  • Good organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • Strong communication and coordination abilities.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
  • Physical stamina for lifting, carrying, and moving materials.
  • Time management and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Basic understanding of safety procedures and use of PPE.
  • Teamwork and reliability in supporting site operations.
