Description:

The Senior Design Manager / Engineering Manager will provide leadership

and direction to the design, construction, and commissioning teams during

planning, development, and delivery phases of the project. He or she will

ensure that the design is managed in an efficient/effective manner

providing completeness and constructability, with absolute priority for the

delivery of the highest quality standards.

Indicative Requirements:

Minimum 15 years' experience and a successful record of accomplishment

managing designs of mega projects. Previous work experience in the

The Middle East is essential for this role.

Role and Responsibilities:

a. Overall responsibility for managing the design and engineering process

with technical compliance on mega projects.

b. Report to the Project Director on a regular basis, defining engineering

progress and quality of the packages. Maintain authority for any

decisions/instructions required to ensure continuity in the design function.

c. Monitors all work executed by specialists and Subcontractors, at all

stages, ensuring that applicable standards are understood and achieved.

d. Lead professional interface with all disciplines, Employer and Consultants.

e. Manage the quality and timely delivery of all design deliverables and submittals.

f. Manage technical team resources.

g. Manage contractual deliverables in compliance with respective requirements.

h.Manage adherence to the Contractor's procedures.

i.Create a positive and proactive approach that drives the whole team.

j.Conduct coordination meetings for the design and direct actions.

k. Manage design development and project integration

Essential Requirements:

a. Experience of multi-discipline mega design projects.

b. Evidence of a similar senior position within a major international

construction organisation.

c. Evidence of multi-disciplinary team management.

d.Detailed knowledge of applicable international design standards across

multiple disciplines on complex projects.

e. Experience with technical design software.

f. Demonstrable experience in and commitment to sustainable design.

g. Sound managerial and technical skill set.

h. Ability to liaise with a wide variety of staff and Employers at all levels essential.

j. Commercial awareness.

k. Administrative and delegation skills.

l.. Presentation skills with experience of technical gateway reviews.

m. Experience and technical competence in design management.

n. Previous strong experience in the application of BIM in the design and construction process.

Qualifications:

a. Degree qualified in an architectural or an engineering discipline.

Chartered engineer / RIBA qualified (or equivalent).

b.Minimum 15 years post-graduate professional experience, of which 10

c.will have been in a senior design role.

d. Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English

(Mandatory).
