Job Purpose

The Draftsman / Drafting Engineer is responsible for producing accurate 2D and 3D engineering drawings, fabrication details (Cutting list), CNC programs, and documentation required for design, estimation, procurement, and manufacturing. The role supports both standard products and customized Water treatment solutions while ensuring material optimization, compliance with standards, and efficient production workflows.

Key Responsibilities

1. Drafting & Design

• Prepare detailed
  2D AutoCAD drawings (drafting & detailing)
  , including GA drawings, fabrication drawings, shop drawings, and assembly drawings.
• Create
  3D CAD models
  and assemblies using SolidWorks where required,
• Convert design concepts, sketches, and engineering ideas into clear, accurate technical drawings.
• Prepare
  Bills of Materials (BOM), cutting lists
  , and technical documentation.
• Ensure drawing accuracy, dimensional correctness, and full alignment with project specifications.

2. CNC Programming & Fabrication Support

• Convert
  DWG/DXF files to CNC machine programs
  for laser cutting, punching, and bending machines.
• Apply all required drawing and CNC program revisions in coordination with engineering and production.
• Optimize designs and CNC nesting to
  maximize material utilization
  and reduce machine run time.
• Maintain and optimize the
  CNC tools library
  to improve production efficiency.
• Prepare and submit tools requisitions on time.

3. Prototyping & Production Coordination

• Manage the full
  prototype development cycle
  , from initial design to shop floor coordination until final client approval.
• Assign correct materials and select appropriate machines for each component.
• Support shop floor fabrication teams with technical clarifications and updated drawings.
• Participate in design improvement discussions based on production or client feedback.

4. Standards, Compliance & Documentation

• Ensure all drawings and documents comply with relevant standards such as:
• AWWA
  , DIN,
  ASME
  ,
  ASTM
  ,
  ISO
  drawing standards
• Maintain proper revision control, versioning, and drawing records within the ERP system.
• Ensure alignment with TPS engineering procedures and quality requirements.

5. Wastewater Industry Support

• Prepare layouts, sections, and detailed drawings for Water treatment equipment such as:
• screens, sluice gates, tanks, clarifiers, steel structures, process piping, and packaged treatment systems.
• Ensure that all designs comply with applicable wastewater process requirements.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering (preferred)
• OR
  Technical Diploma in Drafting / Mechanical Technology.

Experience

• 3–5 years
  of drafting experience in engineering, fabrication, or wastewater industry.
• Experience preparing
  fabrication, shop, assembly, and prototype drawings
  .
• Experience with major industrial clients such as
  Aramco, Marafiq, or SABIC
  is an advantage.

Technical Skills

• Strong proficiency in
  AutoCAD (2D/3D)
  .
• Experience with
  Inventor
  ,
  SolidWorks
  , or similar 3D modeling tools.
• Expertise in preparing
  CNC programs
  for laser, punching, and bending machines.
• Knowledge of cutting, punching, bending, turning tools and their applications.
• Understanding of fabrication processes, welding symbols, tolerances, and assembly methods.
• Strong Microsoft Excel and ERP system skills.
• Excellent command of English (written and spoken).
