Position Overview
We are seeking a results-driven Business Development Manager to support the growth of our engineering consulting practice. This role is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building strong client relationships, and expanding our presence across key markets. The ideal candidate understands the engineering consulting environment and can effectively align client needs with our technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities
• Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities within targeted markets (e.g., infrastructure, energy, manufacturing, technology, public sector, etc.).
• Develop and maintain long-term relationships with clients, partners, and industry stakeholders.
• Collaborate closely with engineering and project management teams to develop tailored proposals and solutions.
• Lead or support the preparation of proposals, qualifications, presentations, and contract negotiations.
• Track market trends, competitive activity, and client needs to inform strategic growth initiatives.
• Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and client meetings.
• Maintain accurate records of leads, opportunities, and sales activities in the CRM system.
• Meet or exceed established revenue, pipeline, and growth targets.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or a related field (engineering background preferred).
• 5+ years of business development, sales, or client-facing experience within an engineering consulting, professional services, or technical services environment.
• Strong understanding of engineering consulting services, project delivery models, and procurement processes (e.g., RFQs, RFPs).
• Proven ability to develop and close new business opportunities.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with technical teams and senior leadership.
• Willingness to travel as needed for client meetings and industry events.
Preferred Skills & Experience
• Experience working with public-sector and/or private-sector clients.
• Existing network within relevant engineering or infrastructure markets.
• Familiarity with CRM systems and proposal management tools.
• Professional licensure (PE) or MBA is a plus.
